Komme gerade vom Vesper.

Great little café. They have awesome bagels and the bulgur salad is super tasty. The prices are good, but with the location being a little bit off the beaten track it’s never overly busy. All of the above means that Vesper has become a lunch staple of mine recently.

I am not sure what to make of this café(Or is it a lounge? I don’t know). I accidentally stumbled here after being kicked out of my office(well, we had server issues, so I just decided to leave after not being able to work due to the Internet going down). As the weather was not that cold, I headed down to Kreuzberg to discover the neighborhood, and found this place. Entering it, one finds a swanky lay-out; the music is chill-out ambient, and the furniture is definitely something that matches the music. That being said, the offerings with respect to food(and their prices) are just what you would find in a normal café. They have coffee, a small selection of tea, juices, even food. What I do not get is the apparent mismatch between these two things. I have this feeling that they want to straddle the border between lounge and café, and somehow it doesn’t work for me. For example, I ordered a profiterole. It came in one of those plastic containers(since you could also purchase it to go). It would have been nice if it came in an actual dish. That being said, I loved their strong green tea. The one redeeming factor of this place is that they have free wi-fi. And there isn’t a password. You just log in, and you’re in. And it’s rather strong too. There aren’t plenty of outlets, however. I only saw one, on the other end of the room. I didn’t use it, as I preferred to sit where the heater was. So final verdict? 3 stars. I probably won’t go here on purpose, but it’s great to know that there are places like these I can head to if all the other places are closed. As it is, this one is rather out of the way, and gives me cognitive dissonance. Weird, but it sorta works.
