The famous café where they shot inglorious basterds. The apple strudel was so delicious. The apple was cut into small pieces and had a nice crispy texture to it. The vanilla sauce was great while the pastry was decent
I also got an omlet which was great as well :) the price though is a bit high but well… You are in kudamm

Ich hatte mich für das «Pariser Frühstück» entschieden und war sehr zufrieden.
Zur Mélange gab es wie gewohnt ein Glas Wasser.
Die Bedienung war sehr zuvorkommend und höflich, aber es fehlte eben der wiener Schmäh, um ein wirklich authentisches
«Wiener-​Kaffeehaus-​Erlebnis» genießen zu können.

Für ein Gemütliches Frühstück mit engen Freunden ist das Café Einstein ideal. Es bietet ein hervorragendes «Frühstück für Zwei» an, das durchaus perfekt für 3 personne ist. Wir haben uns zu dritt über ein Etager hergemacht. Es war einfach köstlich und exklusive!
Für besondere Anlässe und einfach um das Leben zu verschönern bietet das Stammhaus einen guten Service, leckere Speisen und eine schönes Ambiente.

Been there for breakfast and had a nice time enjoying the ancient villa-​style interior. No kitsch here. Besides that it’s a place with it’s own part in Berlin’s history. The breakfast menu was sufficiently extensive and the coffee was made to perfection, just as you would expect of a place in that price range. The food itself was delicious and a little old-​fashioned (as in classic Vienna coffee house style) and is unlike the artesian, organic-​style you encounter in one of the modern «hipster» coffee shops in Berlin. In my opinion, all the kitchen is lacking here, may be a little creativity or «surprise-​moment».

Wir waren zum ersten Mal hier. 1. Weihnachtstag, natürlich mit Reservierung (5 Personen).
Vorspeise: Salat, Wiener Rindersuppe, Hauptspeise: Steak, Tafelspitz, Wiener Schnitzel und Nachtisch: Kuchen und Kaiserschmarren XXL alles hat gepasst. Der österreichische Wein war köstlich, einschl. Vöslauer Wasser. Der Service achtetet unauffällig auf unser Wohlbefinden. Alles in allem ein sehr schöner Abend, der den Fauxpas mit den, wohl gerade aus dem Spüler entnommenen Gläsern für den Grappa, der bei Zimmertemperatur genossen werden sollte, entschuldigt. Wir werden mit Sicherheit wiederkommen. Fotos werden dann folgen. An diesem Abend wagte ich nicht einmal daran zu denken.

Heh, I only came here because I wanted to see the apple strudel café from Inglorious Basterds! I got latte and an apple strudel here, but unlike the movie… they serve it with vanilla sauce and not whipped cream. Clearly vanilla sauce is a much less aggressive garnish.
Note: The film scene for Inglorious Basterds is in a closed room that is separate and often has functions. So if you are coming to the café just to eat here, ask the wait staff if you can see the room. (I made sure to ask very nicely and left a tip since the server was so nice!)
I did not particularly enjoy the strudel here, but the service was excellent. The pastry and texture itself was not exceptional, but I was cheery since I really just wanted to see the scene that this movie was shot. :)
This café actually feels quite dingy and smells a little when you go downstairs. It hides behind a mask of old school glamour, but it needs a solid cleaning as everything feels just a little sticky and dirty. Be careful on your way to the WC as the stairs are slick as hell!

Don’t know why this place has such a high rating. Sure the location and decoration is «fancy» but the food is really ordinary and the worst part is their arrogant and rude service.

Wir gehen regelmäßig ins Einstein Stammhaus zum Frühstück. Qualität der Speisen und der Service sind hervorragend!

Cozy location and great service. They spoke good English and accepted cards. The food was also very good, albeit a bit pricey. A more luxurious breakfast with a few cappucinos ended up costing us 50 € which is definitely not on the cheap side nor was it that excessive to be honest.
But considering its history and experience, it was worth going there at least once just for the experience. Their scrambled eggs were delicious and so was their double shot of espresso with homemade vanilla ice cream. Highly recommended.

Okay okay, the main reason why i wanted to eat here is because they shoot a scene from Inglourious Basterds here! SERIOUSLY no doubt possible, doesn’t matter if the food is good or not, NEED to go there! No discussion possible! I. WANT!

So Einstein it was. So I sat maybe on the chair what is touched by family Pitt, or maybe they even sat in it. I used the toilet used by family Pitt or maybe even by the master himself: Quentin Tarantino! Whaaaa.
Yes family Pitt did actually have had dinner here as well.
Okay enough about that? NO! Yes Unilocal is about food not about some famous family who sat their asses down there.
So the food, it was all quite «fancy», if you know what I mean. Like this small plate next to your napkins, for the two types of bread and butter. They have lovely wines, good ones, maybe even better ones. She sphere was awesome and romantic. It was an old house, with a lot of character and stories. If you know what I mean.
Choices for me as a vegetarian where okay. Not a lot but there where some. The option I had where actually good ones! I decided to take ravioli with artichokes. It’s was quit alright, not as good as I had expected
But okay. The quality of the food compares to the costs aren’t really in balance, read expensive. But the experience is fun though!
We came in a little late so there was no time for deserts, but! That all had a reason, the big bar that situated above this restaurant: Lebensstern. They have the best cocktails in town, and they even where one of the best cocktail bars in the world! WHUT!
So that was my desert, a really nice cocktail! Yum.

Came here with a big group of 8 people. We were lucky to get a seat during brunch time on a Saturday morning. Nice ambiance and friendly staff.
My dishes — the muesli and salmon bagel were a hit. The bagel was toasted well and salmon was fresh. The muesli tasted like it was home made (not sure if it was?) but the highlight of the dish was all the fresh fruits they put in it. Fairly priced as well!
I’d definitely come back again if I’m in the area.

I want to give this place 1,000,000 stars. The schnitzel is THE GREATEST SCHNITZEL I’ve ever had in my life. You must go here if you’re in Berlin. I’m almost crying tears of joy from how delicious the food was. Absolutely Incredible.

Sehr schönes Ambiente («Herrenhaus») aber sehr hochpreisig (52 € für 3x Rührei und 1 Sandwich inkl Getränke (Tee & O-​Saft)

Not veg friendly.
Very expensive place. An espresso costs twice as much what it costs around Berlin, but I guess people are fine with that.
Staff is ok, not particularly kind but not rude either.
Have been shocked by the fact that they didn’t have soy milk, being such an expensive and ‘poshy’ place.
The clientele is wealthier than the standard (well, we’re in ku-​damm…), but maybe that’s why they charge as much, as I didn’t see any value for money.

Authentic Viennese café, right down to having to wait 20 minutes for your check after you ask for it. But other than that, the service was great, and so was the food. The small schnitzel is big enough.
Also: if taking the U-​bahn from Mitte, it’s best to take a cab or approach the restaurant from one stop further west. I’m sorry to say that the Kurfurstenstrasse stop leads you to walk right by, er, «ladies of the night.» Not what I wanted my kid to see.

Nice interior and also big garden at the back. But service was VERY slow, almost felt being ignored. The wasps didn’t help us enjoy the garden so we had to move inside. Food was nice but overpriced I think, otherwise I’d give it 4*!!

I miss this place (this review is based on experiences from 1980 to 1984). Café Einstein was one of my favorite hangouts in Berlin, especially with friends on a Sunday morning or afternoon. I wonder whether they still have those classic newspapers on big wooden sticks, or whether the death of newsprint is too far along for that anymore. Anyway, this was a good place to kill time, drinking coffee and writing, in graceful surroundings. Unilocal is asking whether they feature TV here, and I sincerely hope not. They didn’t back when I was here.

Thank you thank you for keeping this institution alive and well! Although the name-​sake cafes around town are a total disaster (unless cute baristas are important to you) and the branch on Unter den Linden is a draw for meals in Mitte, THIS original is where the best food is served.
The original Einstein simply has THE BEST apple strudel I’ve ever eaten and that includes tasting them from Prague and Vienna to Budapest. Their matching coffee choices are excellent as well.
Go for anything from a hearty club sandwich to the Wiener Schnitzel (ask for the half order which is huge enough!); it’s all right there on the breakfast, lunch and dinner menus.
In summer, sitting in the back garden is better than a massage for total relaxation. In winter, the stark but real setting makes you realize that, yes, you ARE in Berlin.
A stand-​out!

They are well known for poor, slow and all around unhelpful service. The food was good as expected.

Nice atmosphere, the garden is very cute. Good place for a good Sunday breakfast. It all tastes good but I only wished the were a little more flexible with the orders, it wasn’t possible to make small changes.

Wir haben hier an einem Sonntag auch ohne Reservierung noch ein schönes Plätzchen zu zweit bekommen und konnten in einer Sonnendurchfluteten Kaffeehausatmosphäre frühstücken. Es ist mit Sicherheit etwas teurer als andere Cafés in Berlin, aber man gönnt sich ja sonst nichts. Für ein Frühstück zu zweit bekommt man eine Menge geboten, auch wenn man das Heißgetränk leider nicht inklusive bekommt. Ist trotzdem einen Besuch wert!

Sehr schöné Räume, gutes Essen und guter Service. Die Dachterrasse ist spitze. Hatten Buffet in großer Runde. Leider war an jedem Dessert Nuss dran und das nicht gekennzeichnet. Schlecht für Allergiker.

Klasse Frühstück mit Kaffee in Wiener Kaffeehausqualität. Frische schmackhafte Brötchen und ein tolles Ambiente runden den gelungenen Start in den Tag ab. Bei gutem Wetter sind eine Viezahl von Tischen auch draußen vorhanden. Für 5 Sterne hätte der Service etwas aufmerksamer sein müssen. Ansonsten eine Top Location.

Das Café Einstein (es gibt 2!) ist bekannt wie ein bunter Hund, nicht nur bei Berlinern, sondern Touristen gleichermaßen. Die Gefahr bei Letzterem ist oft, daß es zu einer überteuerten Touristenfalle verkommen könnte. Davon ist hier aber fast nichts zu bemerken, und man sieht viele vermeintliche Stammgäste.
Das Personal ist aufmerksam, jedoch nicht besonders freundlich, und machen eher einen leicht gehetzten Eindruck. Die Bestellungen werden jedoch geduldig aufgenommen, und recht schnell gebracht.
Die Tische sind etwas klein, wenngleich die Räume groß genug wären, für etwas breitere Varianten.
Das Essen ist vorzüglich, aber auch im etwas gehoberenem Preis-​niveau. Wirklich zu empfehlen sind hier vor allem die Kuchen, besonders der Apfelstrudel mit Eis, der Waldmeister-​Limetten-​Tart und der massige (aber leicht krümelige) Käsekuchen. Auch den Kaffee sollte man probieren.

Staff is very friendly, the ambiance is amazing. We had breakfast and it’s really nice. The wasabi coleslaw thing was (einstein frustuk) was weird but that’s my option. There’s no wifi. Staff is fluent in english. Bacon scrambled is also nice.

Mein erste Café Laden Besuch im Berlin. Klasse und mein erste Date :)) Die Umgebung ist natürlich nicht die Beste, aber Service, Qualität und Auswahl des Essens und Atmosphäre haben mich sehr überzeugt. Wir haben uns nie gestört gefühlt, und doch war die Bedienung immer zum richtigen Zeitpunkt da, wenn man etwas bestellen wollte. Wirklich sehr, sehr aufmerksam. Hat mich überzeugt.

Die Umgebung ist natürlich nicht die Beste, aber Service, Qualität und Auswahl des Essens (und auch des Weins!) und Atmosphäre haben mich sehr überzeugt. Chic, aber nicht zu fancy. Die Bedienung sprach auch sehr gutes Englisch und nahm sehr viel Rücksicht auf das Gespräch, das ich mit meinem Gegenüber führte. Wir haben uns nie gestört gefühlt, und doch war die Bedienung immer zum richtigen Zeitpunkt da, wenn man etwas bestellen wollte. Wirklich sehr, sehr aufmerksam. Hat mich überzeugt.

Das war eine tolle Sache — mit einer kleinen Gruppe und einer vorherigen Reservierung bekamen wir einen schönen langen Tisch direkt im vorderen Bereich des Restaurants.
Die Tische waren schön eingedeckt, der Service war sehr aufmerksam und konnte sich auch mit meiner englischsprachigen Kollegen glänzend verständigen.
Bis zur Order der Speisen dauerte es etwas zu lang, ausserdem wurden die «Nicht-​Weintrinker» etwas vernachlässig; das fande ich ein klein wenig anstrengend.
Die Speisen wurden sehr schön dargereicht und waren qualitativ wirklich sehr in Ordnung. Insgesamt finde ich das Preisniveau allerdings etwas zu hoch. Egal, denn dafür hat die Location wirklich volle Punktzahl verdient. Das Wiener Schnitzel in «klein» mit Kartoffel– und mit Grukensalat für € 16,50 ist zusammen mit einer Vorspeise auch für gute Esser absolut aurseichend. Die Artischocke mit dreierlei Dip war leicht verkocht und mit € 12, — auch etwas happig kalkuliert.
Anschliessend sind wir noch in die Bar Lebensstern gegangen — sehr klassisch, meiner Meinung nach aber schon ein klein wenig «abgerockt».
Für einen Abend wie dieser — mit 11 internationalen Kollegen unterwegs — war das alles in Allem echt klasse.

Im Stammhaus ist es immer noch am schönsten. Aufmerksamer Service, nettes Caféhaus-​Ambiente, sehr gutes Essen und bestes Preis-​Leistungs-​Verhältnis.

Wiener Schnitzel… was soll ich sagen: groß und lecker = großartig

Wir waren zum Frühstück im Café Einstein Stammhaus, gut dass wir reserviert hatten, wir hätten ansonsten keinen Platz bekommen.
Das Café ist eine Institution in Berlin und vom Ambiente ist es sehr einem Wiener Cafehaus nachempfunden was dem ganzen einen Hauch von altbackener Gemütlichkeit einflöst. Das Gebäude ist ein altes Villengebäude mit hohen Räumen, Parkettboden. Die Sitze sind auch dunklem Leder wo man leicht einsinkt wenn man sich setzt. Kurz hatte ich so ein Flair dass ich dachte gleich biegt Hans Moser als Kellner um die Ecke ;)
Wir hatten eine gemütliche Niesche, allerdings etwas nervig war, dass direkt neben uns der Jackenständer voll behangen mit Jacken stand und eine ziemliche Unruhe entstand wenn Gäste gingen. Überhaupt war ein ziemlicher Lärmpegel dort was für mich nichts mehr mit einem gemütlichen Cafehaus zu tun hat.
Es gibt verschiedene Frühstücksvariationen, ganz o.k., aber bei der Auswahl hatten wir so unsere Probleme, da immer irgendwas bei den Variationen fehlte und wenn wir es extra dazu bestellt hätten wäre es ziemlich teuer geworden.
Womit wir auch gleich bei den Preisen wären — echt teuer ! z.b. ein Wiener Frühstück mit 2 Semmeln, Marmelade und Butter, 2 Eier im Glas kostet 6 Euro — find ich jetzt echt teuer. Vom frischen O-​Saft möchte ich noch gar nicht reden 0,2 für 6 Euro !, Auch der Café ist ziemlich teuer, aber ich muss sagen dafür wirklich sehr sehr gut.
Ich hatte mich für ein Käsefrühstück für 13,50 Euro entschieden — das war eine sehr gute Entscheidung da der Teller nicht nur abwechslungsreich und schön serviert wurde, sondern alles auch wirklich lecker war. Meine Mann und mein Sohn bestellten sich einmal das Wiener Frühstück und dann halt extras dazu und so waren wir zum Schluss bei einer Gesamtrechnung von 52 Euro für ein Frühstück :(
Auch gibt es bei den Extras kein Frühstücksei zum extra bestellen, schade.
Der Service war freundlich, aber nicht übermäßig bemüht.
Der Weg zu den Toiletten ist auch ein Erlebnis, man muss zweimal Treppe steigen, dann an der offenen Küche vorbei wo direkt daneben die Eingänge zu den Toiletten sind. Die Toiletten sind groß, modern und sauber.
Fazit: War mal ganz nett auszuprobieren, lecker und praktisch da bei uns um die Ecke, aber wie wir schon festgestellt haben gibt es weitaus preisgünstigere Möglichkeiten in Berlin zu Frühstücken, auch mit Ambiente und lecker.

Wenngleich nicht mehr so außergewöhnlich wie noch vor zehn Jahren, ist das orginal Einstein immer noch eine besondere Institution, die ich regelmäßig und gerne besonders an Sonntagen besuche.
Eine spannende Auswahl an Cafés, hervorragende Kuchen, aber auch eine traditionelle Küche auf einem guten, wenn auch nicht perfekten Niveau versprechen bei einem regelmäßig sehr interessanten Publikum bleibende Momente.

Muy cerca de Nollendorfplatz y dentro de un caserón se encuentra esta cafetería que me recomendaron unos amigos hace unos meses. Todo tiene ese aspecto clásico con muy buen gusto que hace que te sientas muy agusto.
Nosotros llegamos a la hora alemana de la comida, pero como no habíamos ni desayunado nos pedimos un café y el famoso apfelstrudel con salsa de vainilla, las dos joyas que disponen en esta cafetería y que nos habían recomendado encarecidamente que probásemos.
Yo que no soy muy de tartas de manzana y en general de cualquier tarta que lleve fruta fresca, hice un esfuerzo y debo reconocer que me gustó mucho, estaba deliciosa, por lo que si vais os lo recomiendo. El capuccino estaba hecho como debe de estar y es que los alemanes harán las mejores cervezas pero con el café no son tan buenos, pero aquí si que se puede tomar un buen café.
Además de la tarta de manzana y los cafés disponen de una carta bastante amplia que incluye desayunos y brunchs así como platos más elaborados como el schnitzel, el filete empanado que acompañan con guisantes y limón.
Eso sí, el precio va acorde a la calidad por lo que tendrás que desembolsar por un capuccino y por la tarta de manzana unos 10 euros.

In gediegener Atmosphere, kann man hier wunderbar Frühstücken oder seinen Nachmittags Tee einnehmen.
Das Auge isst hier definitiv mit, der Laden sieht so gemütlich alt aus, wie man sich ein Kaffeehaus im Traum vorstellt.
Zuvorkommender Service und fantastische Kuchenauswahl machen diesen Laden zu einem wunderschönen Erlebnis.

Völlig überteuert, z. B 4,80 Euro für einen einfachen Milchkaffee! Und der Straßenstrich ist nur wenige Meter neben dem «Einstein». Ist das Café deshalb so teuer?
Klar: Der Laden atmet alten Charme und das Interieur ist hübsch. Aber das gibt’s in Berlin eben auch an vielen anderen Orten — zu erheblich zivileren Preisen.

The café is in a house on the ground floor. It has a nice décor, that is however a bit dated. There are large cracks in the walls and on the ceiling. They offer a small selection of German and Austrian dishes as well as sweets. The Apfelstrudel is nice but nothing special. The Topfenstrudel comes with a passion fruit sauce that is very good. The café latte is standard, I would rate it as average. Given that 2 pieces of café and 2 coffees cost 23 Eur I have to say it is way overpriced. I won’t go back. There are plenty of better cafés with better quality coffee and better cake in Berlin.

Wir waren heute mit 7 Personen zum Frühstück. Ohne Reservierung hätten wir keine Chance gehabt, aber das hat auch seinen Grund.
Die Qualität der Speisen geht mit der des Servicepersonals einher.
Die Bedienung erfolgte prompt, freundlich und ich staunte, dass es der netten Servicekraft auch noch gelang jedem das von ihm Bestellte fehlerfrei zuzuordnen. Das habe ich selten so perfekt erlebt.
Die Frühstücke waren reichhaltig und preislich der Qualität angemessen.
Brot und Brötchen (zum Teil aus eigener Herstellung) waren 1A.
Ich freue mich schon jetzt auf das nächste Mal.
Aber: Das Einstein ist definitiv nichts für spontane Besuche. Unbedingt reservieren!!!

Leckerer Kaffee, aber teuer!
Das Café ist ein wenig in die Jahre gekommen, aber eine nette, urige Location!

The cutest café I have ever been in! I felt like I was in a movie. Such a nice, classy ambiance. I was so happy. It’s in a old building and looks so vintage inside and out. Even though it’s a chain this one stands out from the rest. It’s got an old timey vibe that I really liked and even the newspapers they have for you to read are on big wooden holders.
Went for Christmas day brunch and it was just perfect to start off the day. Was really happy it was open on Christmas. Our waitress was really nice and helpful with my choosing of what to order. I noticed most people were getting the tier of goodies for 2, which comes on a cake tier with pastries and sandwiches and such. That looked good but decided on something else, it was bit pricey for me. I wasn’t too hungry so I just ordered Wiener Frühstück which is /​2 rolls, butter, jam, 2 eggs in a glass for € 5,80. For my beverage I ordered a café americano, which I think was about €¾ and to my surprise they did some latte art on it. A cute little heart, which I loved. Adds a little something extra. My meal was simple but good. The bread was fresh and it filled me up.
My boyfriend ordered the Kräuteromelett mit Hürtenkäse, Blattspinat und Zwiebeln which was an Herb omelette with feta cheese, leaf spinach and onions on homemade malt bread and marinated rocket salad. It looked delicious as well.
All in all cute little place that I would recommend!

I was here last night with my companion before heading to a concert. As we had some time, we opted to go here for some tea and sweets.
I arrived late, but the moment I got in, I was approached by a wait staff. I ordered a tiramisu torte. I was not satisfied. It looked like tiramisu, but I didn’t taste the mascarpone, not the espresso, nor the coffee liqueur. For all intents and purposes, if they said it is coffee cheesecake, then I would have had a better experience.
Needless to say, I was not satisfied with the food here. That being said, the ambiance is good. It’s less of a café and more of a château. If you want to enjoy mediocre food in lavish mansion-​like surroundings, then perhaps this is the place to go. Personally, however, I know better places to get good cake, and I’ll probably head over there rather than here the next time.

Einstein is one of my two favorite coffee chains in Berlin.
I like it because of the strawberry quark, delicious and strong lattes and friendly service. Once the Barista sees that you come in a few times a week, she will give you a stamp card which is extremely helpful for my fellow coffee addicts. After five to seven coffees, depending on the price of the coffees purchased, you can get a free one. My favorite branches of Einstein are this one and the one under Savingplatz S-​bahn, because they are not too crowded, close to my apartment and have the friendliest Baristas. (in my humble opinion)

I’ve been in Germany for three weeks and this is the best espresso, Käse toast, und erdbeerkuchen I’ve had — bar none! Highly recommended!

le cadre est superbe le resto se trouve dans une grande villa, agrémentée d’un petit jardin dans une cour, et l’intérieur est aussi très beau: grands miroirs, banquettes rouges, tables en marbre un peu style vieille brasserie
une très bonne adresse pour un repas en famille ou avec un client !
