Burger Bunker

Im kurzem: empfehlenswert und sehr guter Preis/​Qualität-​Verhaltung!
We ate with four at the restaurant Malzeit next door today and can really recommend it. It is under the same ownership as Burger Bunker and we had both two burgers from Burger King and two ‘German’ kitchen dishes from Malzeit and found all four meals to be excellent value for money. They served good coffees as well. The restaurant has a good atmosphere and a clean look.

Another day, another mediocre burger joint opens in Neukoelln. This appears to be owned by the restaurant next door.
My experience started off well as the cook took out an unfrozen seemingly hand-​formed patty out of the fridge and threw it on the griddle. Onions were thrown on to fry a bit as well. But the optimism ends there.
While the burger was actually quite filling, it was not very good. The meat has the same overseasoned taste I found at all German burger establishments before things started shaking up a few years ago. I don’t know what they’re putting in their meat, but they’re doing it wrong.
On the upside, they had feldsalat and even a few sliced carrots as garnish, which was a nice touch.
I didn’t try the pommes but the burger is large enough that you don’t really need them unless you’re really starving. Even if they’re fantastic, I’m not ever going to find out.

If it hadn’t been that all other places in the area were full, we never would have picked this. Tables outside were not the cleanest, and the self-​service order was met with utter indifference.
Only 5 different choices of burger (of which 1 a veggie burger) and either regular or «sweet» fries. If the quality is exceptional, it wouldn’t be a problem. Alas …
Not even a question on how we wanted the meat cooked: the flattened patties were slapped on the (plate, not flame) grill and left there until overdone.
The (thin cut) fries were single-​batch cooked, which resulted in greasy matchsticks in a hue resembling dark charred woodsticks. Unforgivable.
Tastewise the sweet fries were «ok».
The burger itself: cold sesame bun, some rucola lettuce, some hot sauce (sriracha?), mayo, ketchup, the lifeless beef pattie, and … done.
The taste: absolutely below average.
As one of our group commented: «It was food. Period.»
How the hell some other reviewers got to give this place 4 stars simply boggles the mind! Needless to say, our recommendation is to avoid this place like the plague.

Nachdem wir keine Lust und Zeit hatten, uns in der Pannierstraße anzustellen, haben wir uns entschieden, dann doch mal den neuen Burger in der Weserstraße auszuprobieren. Und es hat sich gelohnt!
Die Auswahl (Cheese, Veggie, Bacon und Lamm) ist relativ klein gehalten — was aber bedeutet, dass die Wahl nicht zur Qual wird. Wir hatten Lamm und Cheese und beides war echt lecker (Vorsicht bei Leuten, die kein Fan von Senf sind). Die Pommes waren zwar etwas ölig, aber zusammen mit dem tollen Ketchup (hausgemacht?) und Avocado-​Mango-​Dip echt lecker. Weiterhin gibt es auch noch Süßkartoffel-​Pommes (nicht probiert).
Für den 5. Stern fehlte noch das gewisse Etwas…
