Bizim Bakkal

Den kleinen Lebensmittelladen hätte man früher wohl als «Tante Emma-​Laden» bezeichnet. Hier im Wrangelkiez ist er eine echte Institution, der zurzeit um das Überleben kämpft. Wenn´s das Geschäft nicht mehr geben würde, wäre das tatsächlich sehr schade, denn sowohl das Obst, wie auch das Gemüse sind frisch und preiswert. Alles kann man auch in kleinen Mengen kaufen, ohne auf abgepackte Gebinde zurückgreifen zu müssen, wie das häufig bei den großen Ketten der Fall ist.
Fahrradfahrer haben es allerdings schwer, denn die Straßen sind eng und einen richtigen Stellplatz kann man nur selten ergattern.

Schon seit Jahren kaufe ich hier Obst und Gemüse ein! Ein wirklich sehr sympathischer Laden. Leider gibt es noch wenige in dieser Art. Da anonyme Supermarktketten die Oberhand gewinnen. Das Preis/​Leistungsverhältnis ist sehr gut. Immer frisches Obst und Gemüse. Außerdem gibt es leckere Oliven, Käse, Nüsse, Fladenbrot, verschiedene Konserven. u.v.m.
Ich hoffe sehr, dass Bizim Bakkal noch eeeeeeeewig hier im Wrangelkiez bleibt!!!

Turkish markets are a dime a dozen in Berlin, particularly in Kreuzberg and Neukölln, but for various reasons, this is where I now do much of my produce shopping.
As far as I’m concerned, the produce is the main reason to come here. The store is split into two halves; one is for fruits and vegetables, while the other is for pre-​made and bulk goods. The pricing of the latter is not entirely spectacular or worth going out of your way for, but the former is definitely worth your while, and more.
The fruits vary from the standards like apples and oranges and bananas to more exotic varietals of pears and things like lychee. And the clementines here are some of the sweetest you will find! Meanwhile, vegetables include lots of leafy greens, more kinds of potatoes than you know what to do with, and plenty of different types of squash. The owner even stocks the store with a special brand of carrots per a request of a customer who can’t have the normal kind. That’s kind of awesome of them.
And for all the selection and the quality, everything is priced low. Definitely a bargain!
ALSO! If you want to buy every kind of olive ever, in bulk, clearly this is where it should be done.

You can’t swing a dead cat in the Wrangelkiez without hitting a greengrocer/​Turkish foodshop, but this is where you go for the good stuff. Seasonal/​local fruit and veg, gourmet greens, fresh herbs, all there.
