It’s about time to write a review for Bagelmann since I’m there pretty much everyday. With all the cafes around OstX, Bagelmann has become my routine. Of course this place suits me, weil ich ursprunglich aus New York komme, but also, if I had to choose one thing for breakfast to eat everyday on a desert island, it wouldn’t be a ham & cheese croissant, a brownie, cake, chocolate chocolate chip muffin… nor muslix, yogurt & fruit, wurst, nor a cheese plate and not even an omlette. And definately not a brötchen with rucola, avocado, tomato and spread with a nespresso at home. No way. So yeah, I’d take a bagel to the desert island, but this review isn’t really to advocate substituting your favorite breakfast for a bagel. I’m writing because Bagelmann has the best bagels in the neighborhood. Lots of cafes have Bagels around here, but they tend to be microwave fresh, or sitting there all morning getting limp with browning avocados already dressed on it. The only other bagel to compare to Bagelmann is a chain of sorts in Mitte, whose name I won’t remember, but even though those bagels are fresh and freshly dressed to order, they are just somehow too bready and a little too thick to chew comfortably. Bagelmann has fresh bagels daily, and puts them together per order. The bagels themselves are really perfect — just the right consistency. They’ve created a few bagels to choose from on the menu, but usually I kinda just ask them to put one together with whatever I’m in the mood for, which they do happily. Killer top notch ice coffee and always a wonderfully pleasant good morning attitude. Highly Recommend.
