Restaurant zum Anker

This is a catch for folks loving decoration and reasonably good and fast food. And for those who like to be reminded by the waiter not to stain table cloths (oops I did it, again). Weird.

Best service ever. Food was great. Andrea not only was an amazing hostess, she also saved our trip.
We were left on the dock when we were trying to go on a Rhine river cruise. Our tour guide closed the gates while we were trying to push our way through the crowded dock. Once the boat left we thought we were going to be stranded for who knows how long. We went back to the restaurant and Andrea called the tour guide place for us and got us on the next river cruise that was going up river. So she had their driver stop by the restaurant on their way down the other dock.
Definitely a place worth visiting. Make sure to leave Andrea a big tip!

Essen war recht lecker, wir hatten einen vegetarischen Flammkuchen, das Gemüsegratin sowie einen Salat und die Zwiebelsuppe.
Die Bedienung war freundlich, hatte aber unsere Getränke Bestellung vergessen. Sie kam dann aber noch mal vorbei um sich zu entschuldigen.
Das Interieur ist der Wahnsinn, alles voll mit Holz Täfelchen, Wappen und Figuren dekoriert, sogar bis in die Toiletten Kabine. Sehr urig, viele ausländische Gäste was den ganzen einen fast schon internationalen Anstrich verleiht.
Preise sind recht gesalzen aber für eine Touristen Gegend nicht weiter verwunderlich.

Just left the restaurant after waiting full 20 mintues for service. No one at all greeted us and we left of course. I know it is off season but this is just so bad…

Our favorite place in Assmanhausen. The décor is over the top awesome and Andrea who runs it treats it like a family place. The mixed grill was the best dish we had though we liked everything. Big portions and lots of dessert choices. Fun place to go.

Unique and entertaining decorations, average food, good service. However, drinks are a bit over priced. We were there with a tour group, so I am not sure if they had «special pricing» beings we had our meal included but had to pay for our beverages… Diet coke 4.60 euro!, small bottle of still water… I mean small, 2.40 euro. Wine tasting, definitely not a highlight, plastic thimbles, half full. Over all, I would still suggest this place, primarily for food, service and experience… Once.

The local salmon with asparagus and hollandaise was excellent as was the local wine. The atmosphere is beyond kitsch yet entertaining. Service was good.

Really cool restaurant. Décor and ambiance throughout (including the bathrooms!) is absolutely stunning and breathtaking.
Ice wine is an absolute must. Also but a bottle to go!
Schnitzel and asparagus are excellent.

Wir waren vor ein paar Tagen mit Freunden, Grund war eine kleine Rundwanderung von Rüdesheim aus. Der Anker war eines der wenigen Lokale, welches überhaupt geöffnet hatte. Die Deko am Eingang war schon skurril, als Hamburger kennt man aber so einen Nippes. Intuitiv wollte ich auf einen Besuch verzichten, hätten vielleicht machen sollen. Über die Innendeko ist schon ausführlich geschrieben worden, es ist wirklich erstaunlich, dass es so staubftei ist.
Die Bedienung hatte leider einen Clown verschluckt, dafür war die Wartezeit auf das Essen mit über einer Stunde etwas sehr ausladend. Wohlgemerkt, das Restaurant war halb besetzt. Die halben Hinkel waren außen etwas dark brown, die «scharfe» Sausse irgendwie Fertigprodukt. Dafür war der Espresso etwas strange. Unter den Bedingungen waren wir das letzte Mal dort.

Fresh food, with fresh ingredients. We loved every bite, between the three of us, we had a pork chop, a steak and a schnitzel. The steak was cooked perfectly, the pork chop was tender and the schnitzel was delicious. If you cant tell, I am a fan! Lets also not forget the potatoes (with chopped bacon), which were delicious, and the chef was very accommodating in making mine a little extra crispy as requested. The owner is a wonderful woman with a great personality and very helpful with all of our requests. In addition, great coffee and an excellent off the menu, but sublime crêpe with spicy apples and ice-​cream. (The owner’s own recipe). I highly recommend this place. Also be sure to ask to see the mermaid room if you are not seated there initially before you leave. Cheers.

Im Restaurant zum Anker gibt es etwas für den Gaumen und für die Augen.
Das Essen war super, es gibt hier gut bürgerliche Küche.
Wir haben noch nie so ein gutes Schnitzel Wiener Art gegessen. Unsere Bedienung war sehr locker und lustig.
So nun zu den Auge. :-) Da wir draußen saßen, haben wir erst gar nicht soviel davon gesehen, aber wenn man hineingeht weis man gar nicht wo man zuerst hinschauen soll. Überall stehen Dinge herum, die mit Wein, Rhein, Schifffahrt usw. zu tun haben. Selbst auf den Toiletten ist alles voll davon. Dort steht z.B. eine alte Straßenlaterne.
Also wenn man in Assmannhausen ist, muss man hier unbedingt hin!!!
