Not the freshest vegetables here, or the freshest ambience. Very friendly people. The kofte was tasty, if a bit straight ahead. There must be better spots in Selcuk, but we only stayed in town for a night. So this was the place we sampled.

I ordered the mixed grill, the portion is big and taste quite good! The waitress is a nice American lady. Wish I have chance to try other food here in the future!

I don’t know why this place is overrated, we had the usual kebabs. The salad was dry, dead and disgusting, the fries were refried and dripping with oil, overall a horrible experience.

Mehmet and Ali Baba’s kebabs were delicious, authentic and incredibly affordable. The kofte and adana kebabs made by Ali Baba and his wife were perfectly seasoned and succulent. They also had a large variety of locally favored beverages – a clear Sambuca-like spirit, local beers and salty yogurt drinks. Although my boyfriend and I ate from the menu, there was a French family next to us who wanted very specific items. Mehmet and Ali Baba patiently went through the menu, explaining what each item was in English and after around ten minutes of pointing at pictures, gesticulating, and the use of over-enunciated French, were happy to create plates which were combinations of other menu options. Although they have an indoor dining room, we loved their large outdoor seating area adorned with gorgeous carpets from all over Turkey. Ali Baba and Mehmet are brothers who came from a northern region of Turkey. For generations, their family was carpet weavers with their own signature style. Decades ago, Ali Baba would travel around Turkey by bus with a dozen or so of his family’s carpets, selling them to local shops. Eventually, his expertise and original product led to the opening of a carpet store in Selcuk, and after another 20 or so years, he and Mehmet opened the kebab house.

The BEST kebab place in all of Turkey! My boyfriend and I visited Istanbul, Bodrum, and Pamukkale before heading over to Ephesus! Therefore we ate at a bunch of kebab restaurants and this one was by far our favorite! You also are offered a free tea and we tried the Apple Tea, which was rich and delicious! I ordered the Grilled Chicken Kebab and it was cooked and seasoned perfectly! The chicken was juicy and tender and tasted even better with the rice and side salad! I also tried some of my boyfriend’s meatballs and they were grilled beautifully! Not only is Mehmet and Ali Baba’s delicious, the service is impeccable! I’ve never met such friendly people, they literally treat you as if you are family! Mehmet knew so much about Ephesus, such as where to park and what to see! He even offered to take us to the ruins via his own car! How sweet! I highly recommend that everyone dine at Mehmet and Ali Baba’s to get a wonderful experience and sense of Turkish culture! Would love to come visit again soon!

What a great little kebab house. Firstly, the food is delicious. The kofte durum is fresh, hot and incredibly satisfying. Add to that the friendly, welcoming charm of Mehmet and you’ve got a hit. If you’re having lunch in Selcuk, this is the place to go.

Either we ordered the wrong items, the kitchen was having a bad day, or I’m more critical than TripAdvisor’s reviewers. Two of us shared an appetizer and the kebab plate, and both items were underwhelming.

Perfect place to eat! Food is great and amazing hospitality!!! They have wifi and help you if you need anything :) We came 2 nights in a row. First time had the kebab, second night gozleme. Both were very good!

I recently went to Turkey this winter with my friends. We all had a great experience. + service was very friendly. Mehmet definitely makes you feel at home. He owns the place with his brother, Alibaba + Turkish coffee was one of the best I’ve had so far in the country + honey & chocolate pancakes are light and make a good dessert. The pancakes are crêpe-like + spinach & cheese pancake was also very light. in the crêpe-like pancake is raw spinach with a light cheese. it’s very simple. i ate it as an entrée, but it could easily be an appetizer /snack as well. + yummy fresh orange juice + my friends got the lamb kebab and durum. The lamb was nicely cooked and tender + reasonable prices + open 365 days Totally recommend this place.
