Trattoria Enzo

VERY good pizza. Probably the best pizza in Istanbul. Real Neapolitan pizza. Perfectly baked. The taste was not the best but the dough was awesome. Eggplant Parmigiano was OK. Will be back, definitely.

Istanbul has its share of Italian eateries and most upscale ones fare right up there as far as authenticity and ingredients go. Yet, the one place where they fail you is how expensive they can be. Trattoria Enzo, a recent addition to a chain of restaurants owned by chef Mehmet Gurs, makes you feel like you are in an upscale trattoria.
Amongst us we have tried a cold cut platter of Parma ham, prosciutto, mortadella and bresaola which all tasted very fresh and authentic. I tried their broad bean risotto which was also delicious and cooked just right. Even they went out of their way to prepare a single heart of artichoke for our 9 mo. which was complimentary.
The serving staff was polite and friendly. The price? Not even close to what the other upscale Italian restaurants charge in the city; considerably affordable. To be just though, unlike its competitors, this restaurant is in a shopping mall, it would need very competitive prices anyway.
The only downside? The location. The trattoria is on the top floor of the mall and not visible from outside. All in all though, I will be a repeat customer…
