This amazing museum, housed in two restored yalis, is located in Sariyer, one of the ferry stops along the Bosporus. We jumped ship and spent two delightful hours viewing an incredible collection of gold, silver, porcelain and Ottoman costumes, plus archeological finds dating from 7000BC or so. There is also a collection of paintings as well. The museum is listed as the first private museum in Turkey. It was founded and is run by the Koc family. Understated, quiet, this is a must see. No single world class items, but lots of minor masterpieces, superbly presented. No crowds. Many nearby seafood restaurants with Bosphorus views.
