The Resturant is located in a building you have to take an elevator to the 5th floor. The place is very nice and clean upscale feeling, really nice place to take a date. The service was ok could be a lot better, I ordered the yogurt soup which was fantastic tasted great, and for my main course I ordered the milk fed lamb chops they where ok wasn’t really impressed they looked amazing but tasted bland. And lastly the price is a little expensive and on the high side for what you get for the food. But I think this place deserves a second try

This is a very special restaurant that is keeping traditions of old ottoman dishes and methods of cooking. The rooftop is heaven during the daytime and at night. You’ll definitely need a reservation here, as the place is in the Old City(Sultan Ahmet) right next to the Grand Bazaar. There is a traditional style bread oven and the pide and lahmahcun is made fresh right there. I’ve been for both lunch and dinner. At lunch, you can go for the cold meze and salads at the salad bar, as well as order hot items behind the case or off the menu. For dinner, I let the waiter plan for me and had a cold meze course, followed by a warm meze course, and then the tandir(lamb, slow cooked in an underground, well-type oven). The tandir was unreal and my absolute favorite. It’s just an all-around awesome restaurant!!!

One of the best traditional Turkish & Ottoman cuisine is found here. It’s located on the terrace of a fine department store in the old city area. The prices are a little high but it’s worth it. The food is great, service is good, I definitely recommend it.

These guys are doing a great job at providing locally sourced and fresh Turkish foods. The atmosphere is beautiful with a spot near Kapalicarsi and right about Armagan Gallery. Nar Lokantasi aspires to present traditional Turkish cuisine without compromising taste and quality.

A really nice restaurant in the Old Town of Istanbul, close to the Grand Bazaar. It was recommended to me by a friend from Istanbul. They often lunch there, when they go shopping in the area. It’s a lot more fancy than most of the touristy restaurants that you find in that area. It’s on the fifth(can’t remember exactly) floor and has a very nice terrace. We went there for dinner and it was quiet. I think it’s more of a lunch spot, when the shops around it are still open. They put a modern twist on traditional Turkish dishes, using local and organic produce. Once we ordered, we were served bread and a ball of cheese(I believe it was goat) in olive oil. Both were delicious. Both the bread and cheese were some of the best we had during our holiday in Turkey. They also have a selection of dried herbs and oils on the table, which was great to dip and season the bread, once the cheese was finished. I had the lamb chops with prune sauce, my boyfriend the mixed pide. Both were very yummy, although I much preferred my lamb. It was perfectly cooked and went really well with the prunes and the herb rice that accompanied it. For drinks we had the homemade lemonades(one with ginger, the other with lime), which were very refreshing, although I had to water my lime one down a bit as it was too sweet for my liking. The ginger lemonade was better in that respect. Definitely worth a visit.

Nice place and good service. Application of fine cuisine to traditional Turkish dishes was a bit ambitious and they did not fully deliver. Also, a bit hard to get to by cab.

Really good experience in Istanbul. High level food and ambiance for a totally reasonable price.
