the name means corner buffet.
kokoreç ıs lamb (mutton) intestines spit grılled, chopped wıth tomato & sharp peppers (i think that’s all) in what back home we call a hoagie. half a loaf of turkısh bread. boy ıs it filling. (look at the pictures)
Rüşem Öztürk. İzzet Çakirbaş and his son İlker are just nice people altogether. you can’t find better. İlker practices his french with me. He’s an amateur boxer. these guys work hard all day and have a nice word for everybody. gerçektan samimi cömert saygi. eski osmanli stanbuliler.
İn addition to kokoreç they serve tavuk döner (chicken shwarma. chicken gyro.) in a pide or «ekmek arısı» ın a loaf of bread or «tost» style. midiye dolmasi (rice stuffed mussels ın their shells). french fries. fresh home made ayran (yogurt drink) or the usual suspects ın cans and bottles.
this hain’t your haute cuisine. türkish soul food and nice company. (i guess i coulda given it a 5 or a 3 — how do you compare a place you feel at home wıth to some restaurant — it’s a number)
