I liked this bean place but I hate the décor. Needless pictures of the owner posing with AKP hotshots strewn about just left a bad taste in my mouth. However, the beans were delicious, and since it’s only fair to rate on taste and quality, I’ll give Fasuli a solid four stars. There are so few trusted places to eat in Eminonu, anyway.

The Turkish are known for their beans and Fasuli Lokantaları is supposed to have some of the best. Thus, on a trip to Istanbul we knew we needed to try them out. After a quick glance at the menu, we put in an order for a single plate of the famous beans(12TRY = $ 4.65) as well as their wheat bulgar. These beans were very well cooked and remained soft on the outside while still maintaining a delicate firmness. The tomato-based sauce had been stewed with tiny bits of meat, which gave the whole dish a hint of smokiness. We both found this an incredible plate of beans. Also, the wheat bulger was cooked with tomato and spices and was incredible as well. We wish we had more time to try more of the menu, but from the looks of what the locals were eating here, the beans are the way to go! Definitely check it out if you’re in Istanbul!

We got the star dish, kuru fasulye, with rice pilaf. It was rather tasty! Would eat again.
