Farouk Gulluoglu is The Best baklava you can find these days; an old style taste and top baklava quality. I only recommend this location, a little bet pricy but it is for the excellent quality… enjoy it. Also, if you live in the United States you can order online and it will be shipped to your door with great quality…

After sampling baklava all across Istanbul, I think that Faruk Gulluouglu takes the place as my favorite.(Though the Gulluouglu in Kadikoy is a very very close second). Yes, the sweets are amazing, but what stands out most are the hours. They’re open very late at night and cater well to the needs of those with a drunken sweet-tooth. A++

On the hunt for the best baklava in Istanbul and was referred to this place twice by my Airbnb host and a doorman of Maramar Hotel. The spot-on sweet points +‘s: + Buy by the pieces which are weighed in the end. Pick your size of box and let the staff slide the flaky, syrupy treats into your vacuum packed box. + The friendly staff suggested I stick to the standard baklava pieces which are flaky with the right proportion of crushed nuts and sweet syrup. + Quick service + Accepts US credit cards + Eat within 24 hours. They really don’t sit well. + Sells other items such as Turkish delights which I did not sample The cloying points -‘s: — Tried the green rolls which are heavy on pistachio flavor – not my favorite. — Doesn’t carry well in checked-in luggage. Best to hand carry it unless you want your pieces tossed like a salad in your vacuum sealed box. TIP: Ask for samples if you are unsure about your selection
