Don’t buy the housemade beer. They’ve put all their money into the building and the branded accoutrements and haven’t figured out the brewery part. The Bangers and Mash were good but not worth the bother.

Went here after a business meeting one evening. Great food, fine service, and I thought the beers were great. As with many brew pubs they offer samplers with many small samples of all their beers. That’s a great way to try a few things until you find one you like. The menu was on iPads and in good English, which is really helpful if you don’t speak much Turkish. The chips(or «crisps» as the English call them) are handmade there at the restaurant and are really tasty. It’s a short walk from a metro station and has fabulous atmosphere. Food was tasty and the prices were reasonable. I will definitely be back if I’m in Istanbul again.

I need to edit my review. I came a couple of weeks ago and the beer was pretty terrible. It tastes watered down. I really enjoy a nice craft beer, but this place has gone down in quality and the prices keep going up. I’d rather buy bottled imports than pay more for low quality beer. I still love their fries with the cheese sauce on the side. The fish and chips are out of this world!

If you either need an easy-to-find and good-for-groups spot for a happy hour or(for some reason) are missing the globalized British pub aesthetic, this is your place. I would not discount the first reason– it’s indeed quite well-located for gathering folks from north, south and across the Bosphorus, and is much less hassle than more traditional places.

Gonna have to take this place down a few notches. Last time I was here my husband and I ordered several apps. All pretty gross. With the exception of the chicken liver pâté. Tonight we went back again. Chicken liver pâté is still delicious. Husband had an average steak. I had sausage and mash. Which was so strongly reminiscent of Salisbury steak TV dinners of my youth. I loved TV dinners. When I was 9. Salisbury steak was the best. Not looking for it at a pricey pub. Also, I ordered 1 beer. 24 lira. Our pâté was less.

In a nutshell: mediocre flavorless beer, food’s not any better, place is overhyped & overpriced. I was really quite excited to read about this place, as I’m a California-raised, Istanbul-resident beer snob, who has subsisted on Bomonti and(ug) Efes for the last year. So I brought some visiting New Yorker/Montréal friends out for a trek to Gayrettepe so we could all bask in the glory of an actual microbrewed IPA in Istanbul together. Ok a 50cl pale ale costs three times what a Bomonti Unfiltered does in any Istiklal bar. That must be because it’s three times as good, right? No. The IPA was flavorless and flat. Like it tasted like it was half IPA and half tap water. Not hoppy, not bitter, not strong in any way. In fact, all the beers we tried were flat. The Amber was marginally better in that it had a kind of nice honey undertone to it(even though I strongly prefer bitter beer, I was thankful for ANY flavor at all), but really, really not worth the 24 lira. Another friend got the Belgian white — I think the only thing Belgian about it is that we all wanted to join a monastery after drinking this swill. Seriously. This beer is approximately 4% better than Bomonti Unfiltered, assuming you leave the Bomonti uncapped, sitting on your counter for four hours before drinking it, so it, too, can achieve proper flatness. For 300% of the price. Don’t bother. The food similarly sucked. I got a 29 lira lasagne that, aside from the attractive ceramic serving dish, did not differ in any significant way from Stouffers. Can I say anything good? My visiting friends enjoyed the iPads which were brought as menus(even though the in-app ordering system doesn’t actually work) once we discovered they could make funny faces in Photo Booth. So, not a total loss.

To begin with, this is a very attractive place but what’s really fun about it is, it’s a brewpub in Istanbul and that’s a rarity! It’s located in the Bessitkas(sp?) section up from the Bosphorus in an area that has a number of hotels but is not especially touristy. Most of the people here were locals. The Turkish beer scene is not what you’d call exciting. It’s mostly Effes-light, dark and extra. Effes isn’t bad but it’s not beer excitement territory(I actually liked the extra the best). The beer here is pretty good. They have a decent IPA and a number of not bad lagers in different styles. I had a good chicken curry sandwich. Service was is expensive for what it is but to be honest I wanted to get rid of some excessive Turkish Lira. Look you won’t imagine you’re in Portland or Denver but then again, you won’t care.

One of the best atmospheres in Istanbul. Great staff. We got lost finding the place, we call for direction, they went out of their way and came to pick us up for our location. Simply A must to visit. Defiantly will come back

This was the best bar we found in Istanbul in this area. Slightly on the expensive side for our group of study abroad students but well worth it. Some of the best beer I have ever had, even my German friend praised it. All and all, GOHERE!

Beers are definitely WORM! And when you ask for an ice-cold beer, the barmen says«this is the right temp. for it, beer must not be ice-cold«Funny! Hope they’ll teach him st about what he’s serving. I went there twice, and service was so slow, once it took 50 mins to get our beers! Ok, maybe it’s normal coz it was their first month. But I couldn’t enjoy my beer, in my both visits, coz it was WORM! But the food is better though! I’ll give their beer one more chance! Hope this time it’s gonna be COLD not WORM! And hope the barmen learned that a beer must be ice-cold!
