I have a Garmin GPS sports watch that is quite wonderful to use, has a touch-​screen that works great and so on. But it did have one serious shortcoming, and that was that the pins that hold the strap increasingly started sliding out. Nearly lost the watch in the middle of my first HM about a year ago, caught it just in time. Since then had gone with make shift fixes
A week or two ago I took the watch to Zeit Zone. Found them in Google. While I was waiting they took care of the strap. They replaced it with a brand new strap, but used other pins as it was clear that with regular pins the issue would come back sooner or later. Had not expected them to have a spare strap in stock. I am now very pleased that this issue is overcome. Like to begin with the watch is a 5-​star rating, that had nearly become useless. I think Zeit Zone is very competent. The price was rather moderate, in particular for ZuRich standards. I think they charged me just for the strap.

Recently, I brought in two watches to ZZ for a bit of ‘TLC’. One is a 30 year old ‘Goofy’ a la Walt Disney watch where the arms and numbers are set so that time runs backwards. The other is a 14 kt., antique Hamilton from the 40s, and a family heirloom.
The first step, I was told by the friendly woman behind the counter, would be the price quote for work potentially rendered. The watches were to be inspected, and then a price quote would be given. Based on that, I would then decide if I wanted work to commence. So far, so good.
The watches were dropped off at the shop at the beginning of the week. It’s now Thursday, and I just received word via email that one of the watches has already BEEN REPAIRED and was ready for pick-​up. When I rang to say that I thought I was to first receive a price quote (and to make sure that the repairs to the Hamilton hadn’t been started) the ZZ dude was pretty matter-​of-​fact, and just said something like ‘well, it was just a glass replacement.’ All I can say is thank Jeebus that it wasn’t the Hamilton that they’d set their tools upon as that repair what have FOR SURE cost a pretty penny. Again, the ‘Goofy’ watch simply needed a replacement glass as the old one was cracked from being dropped. Of course, ‘simply’, when it comes to the price of things in CH quickly becomes ‘costly’, so I’m a bit anxious to find out what I owe them.
Flash forward to Friday:
I’ve just retrieved both of the watches from ZZ. The ‘Goofy’ watch glass replacement cost 67 CHF. This was more than I expected to pay, and, had they actually quoted me the price first as agreed, I could have then shopped around some, or, at the very least, thought about it for a spell before taking the plunge. I can, however, honestly say that the work was well executed and may the new glass stay crack-​free for many years to come! The antique Hamilton watch quote came via email last night and was in the neighborhood of 744 CHF. The hubs didn’t want to spend that much on the watch, so I picked it up still sans second hand and took it home.

Hier ticken die Uhren noch richtig: Auf der Suche nach einem seriösen «Uhrenmacher», so hat man diese Berufsgattung früher noch genannt, wurde ich am Kreuzplatz fündig. «Zeitzone» bringt jede Uhr wieder zum Laufen. Und wenn die Uhr noch läuft, aber und drumherum alles ein wenig kaputt ist, verstehen die Männer Ihr Handwerk und ersetzen vorhandene Einzelteile.
Falls nicht an Lager, wird es direkt beim Hersteller bestellt.
Meine Uhr der Marke Diesel hatte durch einen Sturz das Glas heftig beschädigt, das Lederarmband war langsam aber sicher auch am ausleiern. Ohne mit den Wimpern zu zucken liessen die Uhrenprofis das Material von Deutschland liefern ersetzten die defekten Teile.
Nach knapp einer Woche erhielt ich die reparierte Uhr wieder zurück.
Es sah so aus, als wäre die Uhr wie an ihrem ersten Tag.
Bei einem Repararurpreis von ca. 150 lacht die Uhr auch nach 10.10 Uhr :-)

Die Zeit Zone ist nicht nur irgendeines der zahlreichen Uhrengeschäfte in Zürich. Hier haben sich zwei engagierte junge Leute zusammengefunden, die nicht nur alte oder neue Uhren präzise zum Laufen bringen, sondern wahre Liebhaber der Uhrenszene. Mein Mann, als passionierter Uhrensammler, was ja in der Schweiz nichts ungewöhnliches ist, hat hier schon die ein oder andere Uhr schätzen lassen, und ebenso die ein oder andere Sammleruhr wieder in Gang setzen lassen. Das hier nicht nur verkauft wird, sondern auch gerarbeitet wird, bemerkt man schon am Eingang des edlen Ladens. Zunächst bedarf es einen kräftigen Drucks auf die stabile Klingel um Einlass zu bekommen. Fluchs huscht aus irgendeinem Raum einer der Jungunternehmer und nimmt dich als Kunden freundlich und kompetent in Empfang. Da schlägt das Herz gleich höher! Verkauft wird in der Zeit Zone ausschliesslich guter Geschmack! Und angeboten werden zusätzlich zu Uhren in den Auslagen auch Dienstleistungen im gesamten Spektrum der Uhrmacher– und Goldschmiedekunst. Und es gibt sie auch –nur für mich: heissbegehrte Juwelen! In der Zeit Zone haben sich zwei junge Burschen nicht nur auf Dienstleistung der Ultraklasse geeinigt, auf Tradition und Moderne, sondern auch auf Zeitgeist mit Niveau! Megastöhn!
