Our first night in Zurich off plane from NYC. Stopped here as many locals eating and pasta was homemade. We were not disappointed. Excellent lamb chops, according to my husband, ‘best lamb chops he has had’. All the meat and lamb is from the region, which explains the excellent quality. Pasta was fantastic, all homemade. We had lemon ricotta ravioli and also homemade meat ravioli, and beef carpaccio(this was ok). Highly recommend eating here, must try meat ravioli.

Giving up on finding the restaurant our hotel recommended we ended in Vallocaia, we got lucky. The whole restaurant has a cottage feel to it making it perfect for a snowy day in Zürich. The food was delicious and the service was welcoming and very efficient. Even though Vallocaia is quite expensive(it’s Switzerland what do you expect), it was worth the money. We will definitely be visiting back.

Der Salumi /Käse Teller als Vorspeise ist der Hammer! 3 ausgezeichnete Schafskäse, dazu himmlische Mortadella, Salami und andere Schweinereien frisch an der Berkel geschnitte und dazu 2 Chutneys und Honig. Göttlich! Hauptgang ebenfalls ausgezeichnet(Risotto con Coniglio), dazu sehr feiner Hauswein. Sehr freundlicher und aufgestellter Service. Preise eher im oberen Bereich, aber angesichts der Lage und der Küche(für Zürich) angebracht.

I barely remember my visit as it was the first thing I ate after a post-plane jet-lag-red-eye induced nap, but I successfully ordered after finding a waiter who spoke enough English. I had a pasta, and it was relatively underwhelming, pretty plain sauce. I think it was kind of pricey for what it was considering there wasn’t really any meat in it. The service was very… european…in it’s speed, you will not get your check until you explicitly ask for it twice after first finding waitstaff.

This little place is located in a perfect old town spot. We were lucky and a band set up to play in the square there, so we had great music to accompany dinner. We tried the veggie antipasto and the regular antipasto to share. Both were decent. Then, I had the tagliatelle with ragu. It was just ok and lacked a truly Italian taste. Ultimately, it’s a location spot– not great on its own merits, but not horrible.

Nice little place with seats on the sidewalk in front. Had the antipasti and pecorino and ricotta salad, both of which were pretty good, if nothing spectacular. Service, however, was REALLY slow. Nice if you are not in a rush, but a bit irritating if you want something!

nettes Lokal in guter Niederdorf-Lage, schön nach einem Besuch der Altstadt. Sehr freundlicher Empfang und aufmerksame Bedienung. Kleine interessant zusammengestellte Karte mit gesonderter Saisonempfehlung. Vor– und Hauptspeise nett gemacht, die Küche bei allem aber etwas zu verliebt in die Verwendung des(guten) Öls nativer Pressung. Leistung und Preis(Achtung: Zürich) stimmen überein. Würde durchaus wieder herkommen.

Cute Italian restaurant off the main roads. In order to get there, you have to walk through the cute cobblestone alleys. I got the tagliatelle al limon. It was good, but needed some salt to flavor it up a bit. A little on the pricey side, especially for lunch. about 28CHF.

Rustikal und doch gemütlich. Italienisch und doch irgendwie urchig. Ein wunderbares Lokal mit Charme, Kerzenlicht und schöner Atmosphäre. Die Auswahl an Gerichten ist klein aber fein. Italien-Fans finden ganz bestimmt etwas nach ihrem Gusto und kommen auf Ihre Kosten. Apropos Kosten: Die Preise sind ein klitzekleines bisschen mehr als in einem Santa Lucia, aber trotzdem noch im Rahmen. Das Restaurant gehört übrigens zur bekannten Bindella-Gruppe und befindet sich im Niederdörfli.
