Old Crow

One of the most knowledge bartenders I’ve ever come across. There isn’t a drink they can’t make. Quiet and secluded on an alleyway of Zurich. Would recommend you come here over any other bar if you want a specialty drink along with some great drink knowledge.

Ich war gestern das erste Mal in dieser Bar. Der erste Eindruck einfach toll. Viele kleine Holztische und einen tollen Boden:-) Die Bar ist toll ausgestattet und die Cocktail Auswahl auch nicht schlecht. Viele verschiedene Gin Sorten.
Die Atmosphäre und der Service sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend.
Werde definitiv öfters vorbei schauen!

I never thought I’d be able to give another five stars for a bar here in Zurich. Well goes to show you can never assume anything in life.
This is my second five star for a cocktail bar in Zurich next to my first love, the Widder Bar in the Widder Hotel. My friends brought me here and I was in love. Especially after I ran into my most favorite bartender manager who I knew from the Widder. Turns out this gem of a bartender manager who has helped build the Widder bar to how great it is for about 15 years, has left the Widder for a couple of years ago to open his own shop here. Kudos, because he is so passionate about what he does. The Old Crow bar is awesome in its own ways. Like the Widder, it is also stocked with a gazillion specialties… but the ambiance is more upscale hipster with a dash of class and tons of «Old Crow» memorabilia that will keep you entertained for a bit. Not stuffy at all — whereas once in a while the Widder could also attract stuffy types as well. I guess ones who might do a compare and contrast would say Old Crow has character. Widder has swank.
If you are looking for nice cocktails to be served with style and class, and have bartenders who live and breathe by how they serve, what do they serve things in and what they do — this is the place to be. Plus this is owned by people, whereas the Widder is basically walking into UBS (owned by them) and getting a drink.
The Japanese cracker mix snacks are not so bad either — it doesn’t compel me to snack until I explode but it is sufficient for me while I’m having my cocktails. Here’s a toast to you!

Finding this bar made the weekend in Zurich worth it. Incredible atmosphere and the owner, Ivan, is the most knowledgable and friendliest bartender I’ve encountered. Perfect for pre– or post-​dinner drinks. Can’t wait to return one day.

Come for the cocktails, stay for the AMAZING spirits (bourbon, rye, scotch, and some other stuff) and conversation with the owner. We tried some Switzerland bourbon (forgot the name) which was pretty tasty. The selection here is absolutely world class. They have some of the rarest spirits around. Everything from a 50yr Glenfiddich ($ 1000 per shot) to a 1974 Playboy addition of Scotch to 1970’s era Old Crow in plastic bottles (its actually pretty good before Old Crow took a dive to the bottom of the shelf). If you are in to Japanese whisky they also have you covered. Owner is super knowledgeable without being pretentious.
Entire wait staff was nice and spoke great English. Oh and back to the cocktails. They were also very good. Well crafted, prepared, and served.
Prices are as expected for cocktails or spirits in Switzerland. Expensive. But, in this case, worth it.

Good cocktail place. Has nice terrace, that is open until 22:00. Cocktails are classy. They usually served in nice glasses with spherical ice.
Nothing extraordinary. Just good cocktails.

Die Old Crow Bar hat das Zeug zu einem Hotspot für den geneigten Bargänger zu werden. Die schöné, nicht allzu grosse Bar bietet ein wunderbares Ambiente für alle, die sich auf einen vergnüglichen Abend einstimmen wollen oder sich ein wenig vom Alltagsstress erholen möchten… oder einfach nur so. Eine wirklich eindrückliche Bar mit einer noch eindrücklicheren Anzahl von Flaschen, versierten Barkeepern, verwinkelter Altstadtarchitektur, lauschigem Aussenbereich, noch mehr Flaschen, ach geht doch einfach mal selber hin :-) Bei unserem Besuch genoss ich einen Smoky Rum Old Fashioned, der Drink für alle Reisenden der Sieben Weltmeere, der auch das Herz des hartgesottensten Piraten höher schlagen lässt. Käpt’n Jack Sparrow hätte seine Freude daran gehabt. Zumal der Eiswürfel im Form einer kleinen Kanonenkugel daherkommt… Jolly Roger!

My fiancé and I really love this place! I was brought here by a local who loves Widder Bar (which is a block away) and it’s upscale and beautiful (almost like a fancy cave) but also cozy and warm. The music is always great (but I may be biased because it’s old school American classics) and the bartenders are very friendly and accomodating. I’ve tried several of their cocktails (the cucumber drink or spicy Singapore one as well as classics like Old Fashioneds) and they are perfection. Watch out, they’re strong which justifies the 18 – 20 CHF price tag. Great date spot or to catch up with friends since there are larger tables in the back. The bar is beautiful with hundreds of liquors, some very obscure and hard to obtain, but the bartender will be happy to discuss any and all bottles with you. I’ve been here when it’s packed and when it’s more than half empty and the service is always great. The bar treats with the spicy wasabi crackers and nuts are always a plus. I’ve never been to the back patio because the weather only recently got warm but we will definitely be making this our regular bar in town.

The Moscow Mule is really good (and is even served in the proper copper cup). Ha! «Proper Copper». Sounds cool!
It’s an expensive place to «make a night of it» (even though the expertly crafted cocktails are worth the price) but perfect for a few amazing drinks in a setting that works well for a couple wanting to stare into each other’s eyes or a few friends wanting to easily chat over some booze.

Das Paradies für Cocktail-​Afficionados, versteckt in einer ruhigen Nebengasse im Oberdorf! Unglaubliche Auswahl an Spirituosen und Cocktails (Tipp: der Old Fashioned mit Smoky Rum) und eine sehr gemütliche Altstadt-​Atmosphäre.

Amazing! A friend told me about this place, and highly recommended it. The drinks are fabulous and the staff really friendly. Since it is not all that big of a place, the atmosphere is more then welcoming. I thought they had a great selection of drinks and although a bit pricey, it is worth every penny you spend. Can’t wait to to go there again.

Tolle Bar, tolle Spirits, tolle Beratung! Tiptop!

The Old Crow is truly a destination bar for anyone who enjoys a great drink. The atmosphere is classic meets modern with a genuinely inviting vibe. The bartenders clearly love their craft and can make the perfect classic cocktail as well as exciting (and delicious) new riffs. I definitely recommend sitting at the bar, although the outside back patio is hard to resist on a warm summer evening. There aren’t many places in pricey Zurich that I can recommend as highly as the Old Crow.

Opened by a former Widder Bar employee, this place is perfect if you want a great cocktail, either from the menu or left to the devices of the bartender, who will probably be Curtis (the owner). Add the great soundtrack (from Dylan to Dean Martin), and it’s easy to spend a lot of hours here. Wide selection of spirits, cool and casual vibe — my new favorite bar in Zurich!

Let me just say that: here you find REAL bar keepers ! Excellent service, great recommendations, clean and hygienic, the music IS background. Superb whisky collection, but that is far from all. I think the price range does not motivate to have multiple drinks, but the one that I drink, is so good that I come back another time for another one.
I am not into cocktails and mixed drinks, but I must say, in the Old Crow, that is all I drink, because the card makes one want to try, it is interesting and tasty and their advise is great. Drinks have flavor and taste and don’t just smell of cheap liquor like they do in too many places nowadays.
If you want to be in good hands for a drink or two, enjoy a special treat you cannot get anywhere in Zurich and don’t mind that you can actually speak with your company, then this is definitely a place you will enjoy.

Vor kurzem bin ich auf die Old Crow inmitten der Zürcher Altstadt aufmerksam geworden. Es handelt sich um den eigenen Laden des ehemaligen Barchefs der Widderbar und eines weiteren Barkeepers.
Dementsprechend werden klassische aber auch moderne Cocktails, die professionell zubereitet werden angeboten.
Ich persönlich kann den Singapur Sling oder einen Whiskey Sour mit Yuzu sehr empfehlen.
Gediegene Atmosphäre. Bar hat über 800 verschiedene Spirituosen, eher hochpreisig.
Cocktails kosten immer um die 18 CHF. Wasser gibt’s Gratis dazu.
Beratung ist top und mir wurde nix aufgeschwätzt.
Ich war bisher 2x hier gewesen und sehr zufrieden gewesen. Komme sicherlich wieder!

Rather new bar in Kreis. Nice selection of interesting cocktails on their menu and they also lived up to our expectations when asking them for a cocktail that wasn’t on the list. Maybe it’s helpful to know that the tables are rather small and the setup doesn’t really allow for accommodating larger groups of people.
