La Taqueria

Great serving sizes for the price. Normally in Switzerland, I feel like we always have to over pay to get something decent. I’ve had tacos and the burritos from here and have been happy with both! They also have hot sauce available for anyone if they’d like which goes really well with all of their dishes. I would especially recommend the steak burrito to any expat craving tacos!

Oh man, I’m so grateful to have a decent taco place to go to whenever I’m in Zurich and have a hankerin for tacos. I think I’ve had all their options for tacos and while all are great, I love the Al Pastor.

Lecker Burritos und Nachos mit Guacamole dazu mit Tomaten/​Zwiebeln. Fein und günstig. Reservieren ist über Mittag ein Muss. Bestellung muss an der Theke aufgegeben werden. Mich störte das nicht. Service ok, aber könnte sicher mehr Begeisterung vertragen.

Best Mexican food I ever had. And you get your money’s worth — especially the Burritos could feed me for two days. Great taste, fresh food and made with a lot of love! Wanna go for authentic Mexican food (with a hint of SoCal taste)? This is, in my humble opinion, your only option in Zurich.

I always come here with a reservation and this place is always full. Today I guess the heat is keeping the customers away ;)
Anyways, I have tried all kinds of dishes ‘Al Pastor’ and I never get disappointed. Very well done and the portion size is perfect!

Good décor and ambience, in general a nice Mexican restaurant, one of favorites in Zürich. Although the soup I started with did not create the best first impression, the Super Papitas are excellent as an appetizer although super rich. The burritos and tacos are delicious and also fairly priced. They also offer a wide and well-​matched variety of drinks — including Trade Island ice tea and also mexican rice-​based beverages. Oh and the peanut butter cookies are to die for!

Nach dem Unilocal-​Event vor gefühlten 5 Jahren hat es mich nun endlich wieder nach Altstetten in das kleine, etwas versteckte mexikanische Häuschen verschlagen. Und es hat sich echt gelohnt!
Meine Quesadillas mit Beef waren wunderbar, dazu gab’s natürlich Guacomole, Salsa und drei Saucen. Draussen sitzt man auf einfachen Stühlen, aus den Boxen dudelt lustige Musik (vermutlich mexikanisch) — es ist einfach gemütlich. Unkompliziert, freundlich, ohne grossen Schnickschnack. Einziger Minuspunkt: Man muss an der Theke bestellen. Find ich fauler Mensch nicht so toll, aber hey, wenns dafür so toll schmeckt, mach ich das doch gern.
P. S. holy crap, ich hab die Churros vergessen. Leute, da gibt’s Churros! Ist das nicht grandios?!

Endlich endlich, nach langer langer Zeit, habe auch ich es mal ins Restaurant La Taqueria geschafft.
1. Eindruck von draussen: richtig süsses kleines Häuschen etwas abseits von der Hauptstrasse und echt farbenfroh, was ganz meinem Geschmack entspricht.
Auf jedem Tisch steht ein kleiner Kaktus und mexikanische Klänge lassen einen vom Urlaub träumen.
Die Auswahl an Getränken hat mich richtig fasziniert, viele aus Mexiko importierte Leckereien und teilweise auch typische Spezialitäten in Haus hergestellt.
Beim Essen hat man dann ebenfalls die Qual der Wahl, wobei ich mich dann nach langem hin und her für einen Burrito entschieden habe. Bei der Auswahl hat das nette Mädel, das uns bedient hat tatkräftig mitgeholfen und uns alles auf der Karte erklärt. Der Burrito war wirklich lecker und hat mehr als genug gefüllt.
Zum Nachtisch haben wir uns Churros geteilt, welche sehr viel Zucker dran haben, super für Naschkätzchen, und die Schokosauce ist auch nicht schlecht dazu.
Leider hat mich der Burrito nicht ganz so sehr überzeugt, wie einer, den ich in London schon probiert hatte, aber vielleicht entspricht mir ja einer mehr, der auch Reis enthält. Ich werde auf jeden Fall wiederkommen.

After reading all the great reviews on Unilocal,we decided to visit La Taqueria. Even if it’s not in the center of Zurich, it’s very easy to reach by train, as it’s only 5 minutes walk from Altstetten station. This restaurant serves the best Mexican food in Zurich and one of the best I’ve ever tried. The food is fresh and home made and the stuff is friendly. The baked nachos were really good. I also tried the quesadillas and the burritos, they had a rich taste but they were light and not greasy at all. The prices are low for Zurich.

Been here twice now. Is the best Mexican food in Zurich. Our favorite thing to do is munch on the delicious fried tortilla chips. But there are so many great options on the menu.
The staff is always friendly. Great outdoor seating, and lively atmosphere.

It’s incredibly, incredibly difficult to find good Mexican food in Switzerland, but I think I’ve managed it! Okay, I can’t claim all (or any) of the credit — we came here for a colleague’s birthday lunch a few weeks ago, so the kudos goes to her for picking this place out.
The décor is nice and the ambiance is great: really relaxed, and the service was friendly.
But on to the food! I ordered the taquitos (with beef), which were perfectly crispy and amazingly delicious. The guacamole was TO DIE FOR — freshly made and definitely the best guacamole I’ve had so far in Switzerland (none of that powdered crap other places like to serve). Everyone really enjoyed their food. Surprisingly, we were not served chips and salsa as an appetizer — perhaps this is just my American self who’s used to being served a basket of chips plus some salsa after placing my order, and it’s simply not done in Zürich.
Anyway, we’ve already planned our second visit here and will be back to try the margaritas! (Now the question is: Do I stick with the yummy taquitos, or venture to try their tacos… Hmm…)

Delicious Mexican food in Zurich! Great setup here — cutely decorated inside and outside eating areas with friendly English speaking staff. The first time I came I had the California Burrito which was spot on and up there with some of the best Mexican I have had (including in NYC). The second time I came and tried the Carnitas which was sadly not as good (still worth coming back for but just not the 5 stars I would have given the California). Will be back!

Tolles Lokal, gutes Essen, freundliche Bedienung und eine gute Auswahl an Mexikanischen Bieren. Die Super Papitas haben es mir angetan. Die selbstgemachten Saucen dazu sind auch nicht zu verachten. Guter Ort für ein unkompliziertes Essen mit Freunden.

Endlich ein mexikanisches Restaurant, in dem ich auch mal so richtig grosse, scharfe Buritos bekomme.
Gut versteckt, zwischen ein paar lieblosen Büros und Ladenlokalen liegt eine kleine Hütte voller leckersten Essens. Hier wird grossen Wert auf die richtige Atmosphäre gelegt, es gibt also bevorzugt auch Getränke mexikanischer Herstellung und die passende Musik.
Am Essen gibt es nichts auszusetzen, ausser vielleicht, das ich nie so viel essen kann, wie auf der Speisekarte steht… manchmal soll man halt aufhören, wenn es am schönsten ist.

Frisch, authentisch, günstig und freundlich. Nichts für ein romantisches Dinner oder ein Geschäftsessen — vor allem auch, weil man für jede Bestellung wieder an der Kasse anstehen muss. Aber ob Tacos (nein, ein Teller reicht nicht, um satt zu werden), Burritos (für den großen Hunger), die Super-​Nachos, die sehr geschmackvollen Wings oder die unschlagbaren Churros zum Dessert, alles schmeckt sehr lecker und braucht keinen Vergleich zu scheuen. Bei den Getränken empfehle ich eindeutig die hausgemachten. Die mexikanische importierte Limonade schmeckt sehr künstlich. Aber es gibt ja wundervolle Alternativen. Toll wäre, wenn das Lokal länger und auch am Sonntag auf hätte. Aber auf alle Fälle bin ich immer wieder zum Mittagessen da.

Gute Atmosphäre und nette Location. Erfrischend, dass das Essen wirklich mal nicht dem tex-​mex Einheitsbrei gleicht, den wir hier in der Schweiz «mexikanisch» nennen. Ziemlich nah an authentisch. Aber schmeckt noch lange nicht so gut wie in Mexico, etwas mehr «sabor» fehlt noch und die Margeritas sind etwas lasch. Preis/​Leistung stimmt aber für Zürich… wer bislang nur tex-​mex kennt sollte in der Taqueria einchecken.

Puh — also — bevor ihr auch gefühlte 100 Jahre durch Altstetten wandert — das Restaurant befindet sich in einem Innenhof direkt gegenüber der Migros Neumarkt! :)
Wir haben einen Geburtstag gefeiert und es war SO lustig. Natürlich, da spielten auch die feinen Margaritas eine grosse Rolle — ich sag jetzt lieber nicht wie viele Liter geflossen sind, doch yummi war das gut! :D
Wir hatten eine Vorspeise mit Rindfleisch, Guacamole, Salsa und Tortilla-​Chips. Das Ganze überbacken mit Käse — sehr lecker, doch auch sehr kalorienreich. Im Vergleich zu den Burritos, die noch kommen sollten, war es eine leichte Kleinigkeit.
Entschuldigt den Ausdruck, doch es war ein richtig fetter Burrito. Ich hatte den mit Shrimps und er kostete nur 17 Franken, dazu gab es etwas «Salat» (der schmeckt ohne Dressing nach nichts, was schade ist).
YUMMI! SO VIEL Sauce. Ich liebe das. Ich mag trockene Sachen nicht so, ich bin auch eine dieser Kandidatinnen, die ihre Pommes in Ketchup und Salat in Balsamico und Olivenöl ertränkt — janu, jeder hat seinen Tick.
Der Burrito war sehr lecker, etwas scharf (für eine Freundin, die gar nicht scharf isst, war es zu viel und sie bestelle sich eine Quesedilla) und sehr lecker gefüllt. Yummi yammi ich bin fast geplatzt! :) Das Geburtstagskind hat auf Nachfrage ein kleines (etwas verbranntes: D) Küchlein mit einer Kerze bekommen und ich hatte natürlich auch noch Wunderkerzen dabei! :D yay
Nur das Konzept mit dem Bestellen und Bezahlen gefällt mir nicht so: Man bezahlt vorne, geht dann Essen und bezahlt am Schluss. Wir sind bis zum Ladenschluss geblieben (die Musik wurde ausgemacht und uns klar und deutlich gesagt, das wir jetzt raus müssen, das gibt einen kleinen Minuspunkt) und die anderen sind natürlich auch gleichzeitig aufgestanden und dann muss man waaaaarten.
Aber sehr lecker wars! Empfehle es jedem weiter, ansonsten tolle, lebendige Atmosphäre! :)

I have to say: I used to live in California where the Mexicans know how to cook authentic food. This place is pretty awesome: They don’t serve Fajitas (which is an European version of Mexican food). I had to try a chicken taco (unfortunately they don’t have the typical fish taco) Quesadillas, Churros and Horchada. Everything homemade. Taco &Quesadillas were supertasty, Horchada a bit too watery. Churros good but chocolate sauce… meh. Overall a bit pricy but hey — it’s Switzerland — right?
I’ll def. come here again for a taco. Or two.

After coming here many more times since my first review, I desperately have to correct a wrong. I happily give La Taqueria 5 stars now that I’m a little more familiar with their great menu.
For one, the burritos. Awesome. Secondly, the desserts (yes, I’m thinking of the O-​M-​Chocolate cake. Finally, the prices. The only thing that I’ve found on the pricier side were the tacos — however the burritos, drinks, and appetizers are actually a great value for money.

Burritos in Zurich! What a delightful surprise. As an American abroad I couldn’t have been happier eating here. This Mexican food is one of the BEST I’ve had outside of Central/​North America. My recommendations: carne burrito, guacamole (with incredible chips) + margaritas (maybe two).

Auf der Suche nach einem guten mexikanischen Restaurant, welches nicht diesen Tex-​Mex-​Geburtstagshokuspokus à la Desperado bietet, haben wir via Ron Orp von La Taqueria erfahren.
Das La Taqueria befindet sich mitten in Zürich Altstetten unweit des Bahnhof Altstetten Nord. Die erste Recherché auf der Website zeigt, dass man das «erste authentische casual-​mexikanische Esslokal in der Schweiz» sei, das Essen die Leidenschaft des La Taqueria ist und man seine Kunden liebt. Klingt doch toll, oder? Genug der Floskeln, auf geht’s testen!
Noch bevor man La Taqueria betritt, fällt einem das Gebäude selbst auf. Ein sehr gepflegtes und kleines Haus; Fahnen in mexikanischen Landesfarben, schöner Aussenbereich der sicherlich im Sommer «der Hit» ist und irgendwie sympathisch. Aber auch die inneren Werte des La Taqueria können überzeugen. Die Einrichtung und Auswahl der mexikanischen Musik, die bei angemessener Lautstärke im Hintergrund läuft, wissen zu gefallen.
Um an das Wichtigste (das Essen) zu kommen, nimmt man sich ein Getränk aus einer Kühltruhe (es gibt eine riesige Auswahl mexikanischer Biere) und bestellt das jeweilige Gericht am Tresen. Sicherlich nicht jedermanns Sache, also nicht direkt am Tisch bedient zu werden, stören tut es aber auch nicht. Die Gerichte selbst sind immer frisch zubereitet und es werden durchweg frische Produkte genutzt. Dass heisst, keine Salatblätter mit braunem Rand und keine 0815 Standard Tex-​Mex-​Sossen oder gekaufte Tabasco– /​Chilisossen. Ganz im Gegenteil, im La Taqueria werden drei verschiedene Sossen angeboten die auf uns einen frischen Eindruck hinterlassen haben. Nennen wir sie mal «grün», «rot» und «orange». Diese schmecken sehr intensiv und fruchtig. Allerdings haben wir sie — entgegen der Vorankündigung durch das Personal — keineswegs als scharf empfunden. Aber ja, wir essen auch gern scharf. Was darüber hinaus besonders gefällt, ist die Tatsache, dass die Gerichte nicht mit Bohnen oder Mais zugeschüttet werden und damit einem beim blossen Anblick schon der Spass am Essen vergeht.
Mein absoluter Favorit ist der Burrito Carnitas. Einerseits wegen des tollen Geschmacks (mich begeistern die verschiedenen Gewürze und Kräuter) und dem zarten Fleisch, andererseits bin ich danach absolut satt und mag mich nicht mehr sonderlich viel bewegen. Gut, dass die Bushaltestelle nicht weit entfernt ist. Was ich auch noch empfehlen kann ist eine Reservierung am Abend, da meisten schon mittags Reservé Schilder auf allen Tischen stehen.
Update: Beim letzten Besuch entschied ich mich für die Taquitos Carne. Das Team von La Taqueria preist diese als «knusprige, gefüllte und gerollte Tacos» an, welche mit Lattichsalat, Salsa Fresca, Guacamole und Sauerrahm serviert werden. Meine Rindfleischfüllung war an diesem Tag auch sehr «knusprig». Soll heissen, meine Rindfleischfüllung war zäh wie eine Ledersohle. Der Rest war aber gewohnt gut, frisch und sehr lecker. Trotz des kleinen Mankos bei meinen Taquitos, gehe ich nach wie vor gerne in La Taqueria essen.
Positiv: Authentisches und stimmiges Konzept. Frische Zutaten und Produkte zudem sind die Gerichte nicht mit Bohnen und Mais überladen. Freundliches Personal. Gutes Preis– /​Leistungsverhältnis. Obwohl nicht direkt in der Zürcher City, sehr gut zu erreichen.
Negativ: Meine Begleitung hat es treffend umschrieben: «Nachdem man hier war, riecht man auch wie ein Taco.» Was soll ich sagen? Es stimmt, aber wir waren auch in einem Esslokal und nicht in einem Sterne-​Restaurant. Nicht jeder mag es nicht am Tisch bedient zu werden.

There are a lot of Mexican Restaurants in Zürich, but La Taqueria is the only one that truly made me enjoy Mexican Food!
Overall great atmosphere, friendliest team in a Restaurant and it near my Home, so a perfect stop for a take away dinner!

I’m WAY overdue for this review, but better late than never, eh?
This is the BEST Mexican food I’ve eaten in Zürich, hands down. I’m originally from Southern California and have lived in Switzerland for 5 years now… so I know what I’m talking about. ;)
The owner is from San Diego, so perhaps we jibe on what we consider good Mexican eats due to the whole SoCal thing. :)
Ok ok, so some people could argue about the authenticity since there’s no goat or menudo or octopus here… but we ARE in Switzerland, folks. This is a business that does need to cater to the local market, so you’ll see stuff that locals go crazy for – like papitas (french fries) – on the menu.
I’m not really a fry person and would never order them in a Mexican restaurant, so although the Swiss seem to love their pommes frites, I would rather get the fully loaded nachos instead.
Considering how expensive things are in Switzerland, prices here are quite affordable and the portions are very generous. The trade-​off is that this place is a little ways out of the city center, but it’s easily accessible by public transit and totally worth the trip out! About 10 minutes by train or 20 minutes by tram or bus from Zürich HB.
The restaurant is also set a little ways back from the street, but just look for the giant Migros right across the street, and you’ll find this place immediately.
EVERYTHING I’ve eaten (which is pretty much everything on the menu) is super delicious. When you order, take a look at the wall to the left to see if there are any monthly specials. One time, I had a really yummy cheese enchilada mole that’s not on the regular menu. This is also the only place I’ve seen in Zürich that sells Pacífico beer. :)
When my bf left Switzerland, he held his goodbye party here, and it was no problem to contact them online to reserve the back room for a Friday night.
The staff is really friendly and speaks perfect English, they accept credit cards as payment here, and the food and ambiance is awesome. Two thumbs up! :)

Terrific Mexican! If I were in the states I would eat here! Proper margarita, delicious salsa and nom nom chimichanga carne! Great patio atmosphere! Real people living in Zurich not touristas like me. ;)

Ich habe das Lokal fast nicht gefunden, es liegt etwas versteckt in einem Innenhof. Aber die Suche hat sich gelohnt, die Taqueria sieht superschnuckelig aus, und sowohl draussen im Garten wie auch drinnen fühlt man sich sehr wohl.
Die Auswahl an mexikanischen Bieren ist berauschend (hicks!), dieses Land hat viel mehr als Corona zu bieten!
Das Angebot ist gross und sehr schön auf einer grossen Tafel über der Theke präsentiert. Mein Burrito war ausgezeichnet, man schmeckte die frischen Zutaten. Dazu gibt’s zwei Super-​Saucen zum Nachwürzen.
Man merkt dass die Inhaber viel Liebe und Leidenschaft reingesteckt haben, das kommt in vielen Details rüber.
Einziger Wermutstropfen: als wir da waren war das Lokal sehr gut besucht, deshalb mussten wir lange anstehen und anschliessend nochmals lange warten, bis das Essen bereit war. Also besser ganz früh, oder etwas später kommen.
Der (natürlich mexikanische) Kaffee ist übrigens auch empfehlenswert.
Disclaimer: ich kenne einen der Inhaber persönlich, das hat jedoch keinen Einfluss auf meinen Beitrag.

Endlich. Es gibt einen richtigen Mexikaner in Zürich. Zwar in Altstetten, aber wenn wir ehrlich sind ist das ja mit der S-​Bahn sehr schnell zu erreichen.
Vorweg: Ich kenne mich mittlerweile doch gut mit authentischem mexikanischen Essen aus und habe schon vieles erlebt, positiv als aber — und das ist in Zürich leider die Regel — auch negativ. Ausserdem: Ich bin mit dem Inhaber befreundet, diese Bewertung ist aber garantiert objektiv. Dafür stehe ich mit meinem Namen.
Mittlerweile war ich bestimmt schon fünf, sechs Mal da und habe mich so schon recht effizient durch die Karte gegessen. Die besteht aus mexikanischen Klassikern. Fajitas, worunter viele Schweizer die mexikanische Küche verstehen, gibt’s keine. Das einzige Tex-​Mex auf der Karte ist wohl die Quesadilla. Ein sicherer Wert sind natürlich immer die Tacos, mit weichen Tortillas, leckerem Fleisch in verschiedenen Varianten, frischem Salsa Fresca (Salsa) sowie Sour Cream. Dazu gibt’s natürlich noch die andern Saucen, die kriegt man im Kühler.
Auch Burritos sind superlecker, mit frischer Guacamole, sooo lecker. Die werden auch mit hausgemachten Tortillachips serviert, yummie! Diese Woche hatte ich den Burrito al pastor probiert, mit mariniertem (u.a. Zimt) Schweinefleisch. Saugut! Auch die mexikanische Tomatensuppe mag ich sehr sehr gerne, die ist zwar etwas scharf, für mich aber perfekt.
Wie man sieht schwärme ich also fürs Essen! Aber auch Getränkemässig überzeugt die Taqueria. Vor allem die Bebida Fresca liebe ich, mein Favorit ist Horchata, ein Reisgetränk mit Zimt, ganz typisch mexikanisch. Auch mexikanische Biere wie Negra Modelo und co. und sogar mexikanische Weine findet man auf der Karte!
Ich bin ein grosser Fan, und man findet mich regelmässig in der Taqueria. Da können die anderen «Mexikaner» in Zürich einpacken, ehrlich.

Ich war mittlerweile zwei mal hier und muss sagen es gefällt mir. Es handelt sich um einen, ich nenne es mal so frei «Premium-​Mexikanischen-​Imbiss» in einem kleinen Haus etwas zurückversetzt.
Die Speisen sind sehr gut gewürzt und trotz der Mittagszeit und obwohl der Laden voll war gut abgeschmeckt.
ich finde es toll, das es kein TeX-​Mex-​Standart ist (sprich nicht alles mit Bohnen und Mais wahllos zugeklatscht ;-))
Man bekommt auch eine grüné und eine rote Salsa zum selbst bedienen auf den Tisch gestellt, aber eine davon ist echt scharf, aber auch sehr lecker ;-).
Seltsam finde ich jedoch die Preisgestaltung im Zusammenhang mit der Portionsgrösse.
Ich hatte einmal «Taquito» für um die 16 CHF, schmeckte toll, jedoch kleine Portion, man hätte das fast nochmal Essen können.(ging auch meinen Begleitern, (nicht nur Männern;-)) so)
Beim zweiten Besuch hatte ich einen Burrito pollo, auch um die 16 CHF, danach ist man aber «pappesatt».
Mein Fazit: Komme definitiv wieder.

Decent place especially if you’re craving Mexican. I especially liked their black beans, which were very flavorful. I also liked the pollo verde, but overall the portions seemed a bit small.
BTW, arguably burritos (and flour tortillas) aren’t exactly «authentic» Mexican food except for possibly the city of Juárez. They really became popular among immigrant Mexican farmworkers in California, where it evolved to what you’ll find today. That’s not to say that food needs to be «authentic» to be good — far from that, many great dishes are results of similar immigrant stories and were fused with different cuisines or ingredients. But it’s good to clear up the history. ;-)

Call me unoriginal for giving 5 stars after everyone else has. I don’t always like to copy things. But also call me honest for pointing this out and giving my honest review which is also, 5 stars!
I have brought different friends here and each time we stopped by, all of them were very happy. You know they are overjoyed when they are already scouring the menu on a full gluttonous stomach and attesting what they will be ordering next. That’s what real foodies do. Talk about eating your next meals while you are eating your current one.
You have to come here because the owner was so dissatisfied with the faux Mexican restaurants in town that he decided to do Zurich right by opening his own. He certainly got it right!
For appetizers I would recommend the Super Papitas, but make sure you bring your super appetitas too! It’s fries topped w beans, cheese, sour cream, really fresh guacamole, cilantro and beef. It’s a super size-​ish portion and is simply so good that you cannot stop eating this even though your mind is saying — gosh, your main dish is even bigger than this one, slow down! All of your friends will fight each other to eat it all while downing their Mexican drinks, and then before your main dish comes, you are already feeling a bit regretful as the stomach has reached a «somewhat satisified» feeling already.
Fret no more. All these emotions are erased when you see your main entrée. Whether it’s soft tacos (I’d recommend getting a couple or few to try out), quesadillas or the Platos (I like carne asada, beef); you will manage to eat it because it is incredibly appealing to your culinary pleasures. The meat served here in the tacos is superb because it is marinated. Plus even the chicken is nice to eat because the owner properly chooses dark meat, which is juicer and absorbs marinades much better (the local restaurants tend to use white meat which is drier and more lean). Just go crazy, worry later. There’s plenty of time to sign up for a gastric bypass later anyway. You are not going to find something like this in Zurich everyday (less you come here everyday!). Did I mention the prices??? VERY reasonable!!!
The last time we came, it was on a Friday and it was PACKED! Comparing to Zurich Swiss restaurant standards of timing, they were average-​ish in that sense. But we knew how busy they were. The waiter later sincerely apologized and even comped us margarita classicas to show their appreciation of our patience (which seriously wasn’t too bad, but who turns down free margaritas?). With such great food and an owner/​wait staff that appreciates their customers in service and great prices (instead of many Zurich restaurants where the customer is wrong, the server is right for a high price!); you cannot go wrong here. The only wrong is that you are not here yet.

Great REAL mexican place !!!
This place is really fantastic. It is a lovely small house where they serve real mexican food. The concept is really cool !!
The food is not like tex mex but real mexican food. Very tasty, and very very cheap !! I don’t know how they can do those prices.
The staff is very nice and have a good knownledge about the food.
They should start a few restaurant all over Zurich. I’m sure it will be a big hit !

Yeeaah — endlich ein authentisches Mexikanisches Restaurant in Zürich! Was, aber es gibt doch bereits einige Mexikaner fragt ihr euch? Nun ja, was wir leider oft als Mexikanisch verstehen ist Tex-​Mex — die amerikanisierte Version von Mexikanisch. Fajitas beispielsweise.
Also, die La Taqueria ist ein richtiger Mexikaner. Aber keine Sorge — wer lieber das Tex-​Mex hat findet auch hier Fajitas. Die sind jedoch mit «richtigen» Tortillas hergestellt — das heisst anstatt Mehl aus gemahltem Mais. Und den Unterschied kann man schmecken! Allgemein kann man hier den Qualitätsunterschied schmecken — alle Zutaten sind frisch. Das merkt man auch daran dass die Küche offen ist — hier gibt es nichts zu verheimlichen.
Ich habe verschiedenes ausprobiert und bin begeistert! Aber bitte seid offen für neues: wie eingangs erwähnt hat sich unser Gaumen an die Ami-​Version gewöhnt.
Die Location ist ebenfalls klasse — nur knapp 5 Gehminuten vom Bahnhof Altstetten. Das Lokal ist in einem eigenen kleinen Haus ein paar Meter von der Strasse entfernt — aber das ist richtig charmant. Anstatt in irgendeinem Einkaufszentrum oder einem grossen Haus kommt man sich hier vor wie zu Gast bei freunden — in deren Eigenheim :)
Neben einer grossen Auswahl an Speisen (Tacos, Fajitas, Burritos, Quesadillas, Papitas, Suppen und Salaten) lässt sich auch die Getränke Auswahl sehen! Neben den standardmässigen Softdrinks finden man hier auch mexikanische Spezialitäten. Neben den 3 Bieren wird hier auch frischer Margarita sowie Horchata (Reiswasser mit Zimt und Vanille) hergestellt. Ein Traum!
und last but not least: Die Preise lassen sich ebenfalls sehen! Die Taqueria verfolgt ein Halb Fast-​Food halb Restaurant Konzept und kann darum wahrscheinlich günstigeres Essen anbieten als in einem vollwertigen Restaurant.
Nach all dem Lob — es gibt in jedem Lokal etwas zu verbessern. Wenn ich etwas nennen müsste, wäre es dass man nach einem Besuch hier ein bisschen zu fest nach Friteuse stinkt. Das Konzept mit der offenen Küche ist cool da es transparent ist — aber leider nicht geruchsneutral.

La Taqueria totally satisfied me-​a!
I came with two friends for dinner on Friday night,
and was surprised by the food– it’s tasty, alright!
Tried the Tomatoey soup and a quesadilla to start,
but our entrees were probably the best darn part!
My veggie burrito was jam-​packed with good stuff,
then the tacos and taquitos– we couldn’t get enough!
My margarita was tasty (and oh so strong too),
I couldn’t stop with one, and had to order two!
They also have a selection of diverse drinks and beers,
so pick one (if you can), and raise your glass for a cheers!
My friend went so crazy for the quesadilla and melted cheese,
we had to order another just to put him at ease.
It’s super closeby to Altstetten bahnhof,
and almost right next to a tram 2 stop.
For a good deal, great food, and a nice ambience, friend–
come on down to Taqueria, it’s MUY BIEN!

GUYZ. Seriously.
It’s been a looooong 14 months that I’ve been stuck living in Zurich without authentic Mexican food… Let me tell ya! ;) coming from a Hispanic background it’s been a hard adjustment.
But thank the Mexican gods that La Taqueria is here! Muy bueno!
Although it is located in Altstetten, it’s pretty darn convenient to get to. From Zrh HB it’s less than 5 minutes by train and from there about a 10 minute easy walk.
Can I get a whoop whoop that there is finally a place in Zurich where you order & pay at the counter and they deliver your food!!! It cuts out all that awkwardly slow non friendly Swiss table service that I loathe. Seriously y’all, it’s the small things that excite me.
Oh yeah, the food… It was great. I’ve been twice already (mhm) and I feel confident in recommending the chicken! I had a pollo taco which was great, juicy and had great flavor. I do wish that it was double tortillad (si, a verb) though. The friend I was with didn’t think what I got was a taco because she was only familiar with a crunchy taco LOLZ! She had the chicken burrito and loved it. We ordered chips and salsa and guac and all three were great! The chips are thick and guac was creamy. I’m excited to go back and try their frijoles negros and mexican rice, to add both to your main costs about 10 bucks which sucks a little but I’m not complaining ;)
Obvi will go again. And again. :)
