The positive thing about the place was the location. It is right opposite Hallenstadion, which was very convenient for us before attending a hockey game there. Other than that the food was average, and the service was below average… which is very poor since the average service standard in Zurich is pretty crap. The restaurant was fairly empty, yet finding a waiter was a challenge, getting their attention was problematic, and finally getting some service was tough. I wonder what the service would be like if this place was actually busy.

This restaurant is in Holiday Inn so it’s convenient for the hotel guests. Other than that, I don’t find any reason to eat here. Service was similar to one you get in the plane. You need to look for a server, wait till he appears but then constantly disappears. No proper table setting: no plate for bread, no salt or pepper. Bread came but we had to ask for butter. I had tortellini and it was Ok. Modern looking interior can use a group event but needs some improvement.

A somewhat good, international restaurant for business(and sometimes even for pleasure), situated near the exibition centre in Oerlikon. If you eat your first real Geschnetzeltes here, you won’t be sorry. It’s really quite good. They have this cool concept were you can order very small portions(bites) of various dishes, very praiseworthy. The inside of the restaurant is also quite nice. However, during the four times we’ve been there, the restaurant was almost totally empty whenever there wasn’t an exhibition running, which I find kind of spooky. They’re making an effort with their desserts, but still finding their ground. Pastry is obviously not their strong point. I was once served a truly disgusting ice cream, bitter and absolutely unpalateable! And their three kinds of Toblerone(a lazy man’s variation) was so uninspired, so boring. On the sunny side, I once enjoyed an excellent tonka bean crème brulée, a huge dessert variation and a very good serving of strawberries, submerged in their own coulis, topped with thick cream and spiced with green pepper. That slight warmth was right on the money! Food for thought: At least they are making their own ice cream. Many Swiss restaurants don’t even own an ice cream machine, let alone a Pacojet. They’ve got potential. For more photo reports, interviews and restaurant reviews, please visit:
