For a sunday stroll in center city a good place to go. Especially if you’r a family-friendly person. Wlan is for 30min. but you can ask for a second one anytime.

Excellent food! Great variety. Menu changes enough each night. Very fast to get in and out of. One of the better vegetarian options in Basel.

Always a good choice but expensive. Sundays brunch are the best day to eat in my opinion. They do tend to have the same food on the buffet every day.

Yuuuum! Everything I had here was delicious. I recommend the buffet for sure. I had fun trying all sorts of food even if I didn’t know exactly what it was. Mango lassi was also delish.

Very unique concept and delicious food. Prices are affordable compared to rest of Basel. Very comfortable and nice ambience.

Wonderful vegetarian buffet-style restaurant. Pay by weight, it’s about 4.5 € per 100g so expect to spend about 20 € per dish, which unfortunately is the norm for Basel. However, the self ervice buffet has a delicious selection of veggie food from around the world, from indian to thai to morrocan dishes. You might expect to share a table as it’s quite casual. The décor and ambience are great, but the staff were not that friendly(although you barely have to speak to them!).

Fantastic vegetarian meal — even for carnivores! World tour of colors, tastes, and textures. Wine and beer available by the glass. Food is chosen by you at the buffet area, then weighed at the end(curiously, bread doesn’t count and is removed before weighing). A plate of food full but not overloaded will run around 15 Swiss francs. Great first experience for me…

Excellent quality ingredients, great staff! First thing, take a quick tour of the entire buffet and then choose what you want… if you just start taking things, you’ll end up with multiple plates, like I did!(And then overeat, like i did!) Excellent labeling of all the food, veg, ovo, lacto, gluten, sugar, onions, kid friendly, etc. Had dinner here, can’t wait to try the breakfast.

We were glad when we found the tibits in Basel and enjoyed a delicious vegetarian meal. If you know the hiltl in Zurich, the tibits is the simpler and cheaper version that is perfect for your everyday consumption of healthy food. Will surely stop by at one of the restaurants soon again.

For choice this place gets 4 stars. We had Sunday brunch here and there was a lot of variety on the buffet and as you pay by weight you could get what you wanted and pay for it. The flavours were ok and unfortunately many of the dishes were quite venigary and lacked a bit of flavour. It is also an expensive place however that is common in Switzerland. I like the idea of the place and great to see a vegetarian restaurant with such a wide selection of dishes for vegetarians. I would come back here only because it is a vegetarian restaurant and the choice is great.

Stopped here for a bite to eat one weekend mid afternoon. Nice place, smart décor, not upscale, but no dive. Food was tasty and fresh. Definitely worth stopping by for some tasty treats or just a coffee.

Fresh, well prepared vegetarian fare. Go for the cauliflower, tofu salad and eggplant caviar. Buffet style, modern and clean with a very upscale type feel. Warning: switzerland is so expensive that even a plate at this fairly casual restaurant can be over twenty American dollars. Considering, I paid eight dollars for a Starbucks coffee, it was reasonable.

I like going to Tibits whenever I feel vegetarian. It is trully a Veggie Paradise. The service is ok, the ambiance is nice. I like the Buffet concept. My favorites in here are the Quinoa salad, Red Beets salad, Tofu, Zuchini Casserole, Falafel, Stuffed Jalapenios, Carcioffi, Cous Cous. Just try to choose your food carefully as it can be expensive when you pay, ohhh but the piece of bread is free!!. I would go back again

First a disclaimer: I cannot believe how expensive Switzerland is! This place is a very good option for a vegetarian like me. They usually have a wide variety of items on salad and buffet bar including dishes from Middle-east, North Africa and India. However, I was most impressed with the deserts and collection of juices :) FYI: The staff speaks and understands English(in case you were wondering) And hurray! I can finally Unilocal in Switzerland! the land of cows, cheese and chocolate :)

This is a vegetarian place. NOMEAT(just to be absolutely clear). The food is tasty, and depending on how much you get affordable. If the waiters don’t bring you to a seat, I suggest claiming a seat first, then go to the food area, grab a plate and select your food. Once you’re done harvesting, go to the counter to weigh plate and purchase. As with all Swiss Restaurants, the staff speaks some English. Lastly, vegetarians stop eating my food’s food.

Mellow vibe. Clean delicious food. Perfect for the vegan or vegetarian living or traveling in Switzerland. The tofu w broccoli & olives is yum. The music and lighting provides a relaxing atmosphere. The staff have all been very friendly and helpful in every tidbits we’ve been to whether it was in Zurich, Bern or Basel. A great place to eat.

Calling all vegetarian-averse foodies: this place wont disappoint even the most stubborn carnivore. I came here with my aunt for a quick bite before seeing Margin Call at the theater around the block. On first glance, the swanky outdoor seating and the modern lighting inside would have the uncritical passerby thinking tibits to be an upscale lounge. Once inside, the lone island of serving plates with a variety of seating options tells you this is not your average to-go establishment. Low key enough for any occasion. Try the bean salad(forget the German name) — you wont be sorry. Plus, you get one free bread roll. The college student that still lives inside me loves free bread rolls.

I am a carnivore. An unabashed meat eater, a devourer of flesh(preferably cooked and non-human, please), I delight in sinking my teeth into a bloody steak. Nevertheless, I was very happy at this veggie paradise. The concept is simple, really — in a way, it’s just a glorified buffet that charges by the 1⁄10 of a kilo and happens to serve no meat products. And it’s not altogether cheap — as I recall, it’s about 4.20CHF per 100g if you eat in, and 3.70 if you take it away(what I would recommend). But the items you’ll find here are very nice. The food ranges from a number of salads and vegetable items to falafel and hummus, potato wedges, and tofu dishes. There’s hot and cold here, so it’s not just for a light snack. Another highlight is the selection of fruit smoothies and fruity alcoholic cocktails. I didn’t have any of the cocktails as I had to drive afterwards, but the Tutti Frutti smoothie was delicious. Of course, it’s Basel, so it was expensive. But I enjoyed everything I had from the bar except for the lentil salad(a little too vinegary) and walked away feeling full of delightfully fresh and light food. Highly recommended — even for the carnivores! (Update Nov 7, 2010 — Fixed some typos)
