This supermarket is everything that I ever wanted in Denmark. Only that it’s not in Denmark. It’s probably 15 minutes by train from my place, but it’s still in another country. Everything in here reminds me of those giant«hypermarkets» chains that we have in Indonesia. Rows and rows of different vegetables, a huge cool section for meat, their own fishmongers and butchers — and so many different brands and even for people with allergy or just vegans. Swedish supermarkets know to cater them all. My favourite buys from this place? The fresh Asian veggies, the seafood and the cheese in tubes… and oh, the Swedish prepackaged meatballs. LOL Whenever you are in Malmö for a shopping run, do your groceries at the same time!

i love ica! it might a bit more expensive that coop but they seem to concentrate more on organic products. this one in particular seems to have a lot of variety and specialty items. i was surprised to see they sell shirataki noodles and santa maria chipotle paste.(items from the same brand are sold in denmark, why no chipotle paste??) the butcher and fishmonger had some very tempting offerings and a salad bar. you can also buy a whole roast chicken. on the day that we went, there was a man handing out roses to each entering customer, a band wandering the store, and free samples of falafel and pasta. i’m sure stuff like that doesn’t go down every day but it sure made us feel welcome.(:
