Happen to be walking & enjoying the sights in Sodermann area and it was almost dinner time. Whip up Unilocal app & Svejk looks interesting. We wanted european food The restaurant/bar front looks deceiving. But when we stepped into the place, it immediately gives you the good warm homey feeling. Not saying that I stay around bars/pubs so often to call it home, but you know what I mean :) Place was crowded on a weekday @ 7pm… server told us there’s a wait for the restaurant side but if we don’t mind a table in the bar area, we can be seated in 10mins. We chose that. Only 1 server & she was superb!!! you can see her zipping in & out of the kitchen, clean tables, serve food, take orders & all the time she was smiling. We may be the only tourists there but she took her time explaining the menu & daily specials, answer my friends 101 questions on the menu & at the same time, didn’t rush us to order. We settled for: 1. Potato pancakes with bacon & lingonberries(can’t get some Swedish than lingonberries) 2. Pork Schnitzel 3. Lamb croquettes 4. Hungarian goulash 5. Tomato salad Everything we had were delicious. Servings was huge but I am telling you that all 5 of us cleared the plates *blurp*(excuse us). Each dish comes with a side of salad. The sides(potatoes, sauverkraut, etc of each dish really complimented the main item, making each a well-balanced dish. I’ll be recommending it to my friends who are visiting Stockholm in future. Thanks for a lovely dining experience :)

The best beer on tap that I’ve ever had. Simple yet delicious dishes, great atmosphere. I was really surprised over how inexpensive the food was here, lunch prices for dinner food. The unfiltered Pilsner Urquell will set you back around 8 $ but it’s the best 8 $ you’ll ever spend. This is a new favorite!

This is one of the best places to go in the city. Perfectly maintained taps, the same few beers on tap, wonderful food, great atmosphere, and not a single Hipster in sight to offend the eye and all other senses. The menu hasn’t changed in decades and it’s for the best. Classic Czech cuisine at its finest in the city.

Amazing czech beers. The place to go to have some tasty food and beer. The raggmunk is amazing and a favorite. Their czech potato salad is also delicious. 4 years ago had a really nice apple dessert there and was amazing but last time it wasnt that good. Extremely busy place on friday and weekend. They do not accept reservations so you have to typically wait for a table.

The Schneitzel with noble cheese was delicious! The cheese inside is like a blue cheese; slightly too strong for my taste but still delicious. Great beers on tap, authentic food and atmosphere. Locals eat here!

It’s my top three favorite places in STHLM… Simple and tasty. Noble cheese schnitzel is the best, fried potatoes is just delicious, and the best thing is their goulash soup. Polish it with their fresh draft Pilsner Urquell and it will make your night!!! Love it!!!

I really did not know what to expect when my boyfriend said we would eat in a Czech restaurant. I mean, have you ever heard of any Czech specialities, except beer ? So yes, beer we had. I am really no expert, but it was fresh and I enjoyed it. Then the food. I had some kind of deep fried breaded cheese and bacon mix, probably one of the most greacy things ever, but sooo tasty ! The kind that makes you slice it and eat tiny peaces to make it last longer. The place is a bit loud, don’t go there on a romantic date or if you want some peace and quiet. However, do go there on any other occasion: beer with friend(s), afterwork, diner with friend(s).

Me: We’ve passed this place so many times and wondered about it. It’s open; let’s go in. Wife: I don’t know. It looks seedy. M: Maybe that’s the point. W: Oh God. M: Kieran says it’s good. W: He likes any place with beer. M: He says the beer is really fresh. W: M: Mikey likes it. He is always right. Even you admit that. W: That’s true. Mikey is always right. OK, let’s go… * * * * W: The beer is really good. This is nice. I like our waitress. She’s very sympatico. It’s starting to get a little busy… M: I’m noticing the plates going out look pretty good. Maybe we should order something. W: Let’s share something. * * * * W: How about this? It’s a goulash. M: Sounds OK. * * * * M: This is a nice, clean presentation. It smells very good. No apparent grease in the sauce. Oh, pretty good; better than I expected. The meat is tender– no fat. Try it. W: This is lovely. M: Don’t eat it all! W: This is really nice, not expensive, great beer, good food. * * * * W: We should come back.

My wife and I happened upon this place while wandering around Soldermalm, what a great find. Potato pancakes are revelatory– full of that crisp, smoky flavor but surprisingly light, and the«pork» are thick strips of what Americans consider bacon, perfectly fine for me. Too bad I won’t find a place like this back in Denver.

Amazing food. The schnitzel stuffed with cheese is amazing! The bratwurst was good but lacked texture. The apple strudel was good but a bit lacking in sweetness for me Friendly service from the bartender but the waitress was a bit cold(as per usual in Stockholm), but overall very nice. The price was very good as well(139SEK for the main course). Definitely will be going back.

Very fun place that I highly recommend! One of the few places in the world that gets unfiltered Pilsner Urquell on tap for special occasions. I think Czech pils is the exclusive offering with generous pours in proper glassware of about 6 – 8 different Czech pils. Even pils that a beer nerd may consider inferior are served so fresh and so perfectly that almost anything is outstanding if you are in the mood for hoppy session lager. Food was fantastic and true to Czech style. In short, Stockholm has its own mini Czech Republic. A little bit difficult to find this place however… I would consider it a hole in the wall by my standards. So go out looking for it and don’t give up!

Svejk is what it is and is not trying to be anything else but that. The beer is cold, delicious and takes 5 – 7 minutes to pour(the way good beer should be.) The place is always packed with people making the atmosphere a little hectic, but full of life. The service is as fast as it can possibly be when a place is that packed. The food feels authentic and is served up in great portions for a very fair price. The Prague schnitzel and potato salad is better than any schnitzel I have eaten in Prague. It is not fatty, not too greasy, tender and perfectly battered. The potato salad has a tangy kick, is full of veggies that are cooked to perfection and served hidden underneath the schnitzel, like a little gem to be found. Bottom line: awesome beer, great food, fun atmosphere= a great dinner in Stockholm

Great beer in big glasses + awesome food(the cevapcici must be among the best north of Balkan). Good thing the above is all I need because the place looks like a shack, the service is hectic(but not rude) and the wait is usually long. Still a highly recommended place!

Hands down my favourite place in Stockholm. 6 – 7 Czech beers on tap, often one or so special batch, such as unfiltered Urquell that’s impossible to find elsewhere in Stockholm. Good food too — honest, well-made, and reasonable priced blend of ‘eastern european’ fare. Won’t be up for a Michelin star anytime soon perhaps, but very consistent quality. Best of all, service is very friendly even though the place is often crazy busy on Fri-Sat. No reservations, but they do keep a waiting list.

Soldaten Svejk is a great place to go for a, by Stockholm standards, cheap meal. They do not accept any reservations so there may be a wait(if you do not wish to be there when they open at 5). The wait is usually not a problem at all since it is an excellent opportunity to sample a few of the Czech lagers they have on tap. Soldaten Svejk has been open for as long as I can remember and when it opened it was not at all as common to be able to have a good selection of beer at pubs and restaurants in Stockholm but nowadays the selection at Svejk is nothing special. The beer is however still good and it goes well with the food served. The food is a mix of Czech(or perhaps Central European) dishes and some Swedish and Balkan dishes. The Schnitzel, Raggmunk(a sort of Swedish potato pancake with pork) and evapii are my favorite items on the menu. The food is cheap but the tab often ends up being more than expected since it is easy to have a few extra lagers.

If you want value, go here. The food is very average but the prices are great for a sit-down dinner. Portions are big but the service is understandably brief and surly since they only ever seem to have one staff member working the entire room. Would go back despite the so-so food.

Recommended by a Swedish friend as a cheap place to eat in Stockholm, this restaurant only exceeded my expectations. Visiting on a Saturday night meant a half hour wait for a table, but the bar serves a great selection of Czech beer to keep you occupied during the worth while wait. Serving generous portions of hearty and delicious food, this pub-style eatery is perfect for a cold evening in Stockholm. Highly recommended.

Spent a long weekend in Stockholm and had this quaint, unpretentious czech restaurant/pub recommended as excellent value food by locals. When we arrived they said it could be an hour wait but only waited 30mins. The beer is great and there is an extensive menu of beers and food. I ordered a starter of beer cheese followed by Hungarian goulash with dumplings. The food was wholesome and tasted great… I would definately recommend this place as a drinking spot or for a great value meal to anyone visiting Stockholm. Staff are friendly and main meals range from 85 – 140 krona which is cheap for Stockholm but nothing is done cheaply at this place. The interior is lovely as was the food and drink.
