I really love getting my hair done! That said, I also really like to try new things(sometimes a good thing and sometimes not so much). It’s been a while since I tried something new and I realized it was time for a change! I was thinking that I wanted something fresh but still pretty for long hair – like the recent ombré trend. Unfortunately, the ombré is pretty over(you don’t want to be a 30 year old woman sitting next to a bunch of 13 year old girls with the same hair, ya know what i’m saying?). So, I started looking for something a little similar to that but with a little more«maturity» or «luxuriousness» and I found balayage! Life changing!!! I don’t know how something can be both dramatic and subtle, but this french hair painting style is SWAG! Foils look so dated and uniform to me now, it’s incredible! So, how I found this tiny little cute place called«Salong Cupcake» is I just googled«Stockholm» and«balayage» together! After a few listings their website/instagram photos came up and looked pretty good. Plus, who can say«no» to the name Cupcake?! So, I made an appointment! The place was much tinier than expected and not as luxurious as the name insinuates, but still kinda cute in a rough around the edges hipster way! They carried Amika and Keune products instead of your usual Matrix or Redken stuff, which was nice. They also apparently have a day a week that they serve cupcakes! Which, is so totally great! I think it’s on Thursdays… but you’ll have to call to confirm that. My stylist was named Carmine and she was absolutely wonderful and super nice! She put up with me and my motor mouth the whole time and had no problem gabbing back with the same enthusiasm. There was a blotchy area I noticed near my bangs and she was also kind about taking the extra time to fix it. I think the only thing that was a small bit of a detractor is that my root color came out much much warmer that I would’ve liked. Like slightly coppery when I was going for ashy blond. She said it was so my blonde didn’t turn«greenish» upon dying because my natural tone is «ashy» and I totally get that, but I think if your truly a master colorist you should be able do any color(even if it takes a few steps or visits to do). Maybe it will just take a few tries to get it toned down. I could just be picky, but darn it… is it wrong to demand the best hair you can have?!! Even though I didn’t like the color very much, she was a pretty skilled stylist when it came to the actual application and hair painting. I think she did a really good job at everything else! It turned out really beautiful even though I didn’t get exactly what I was looking for! I would give this place a solid 3.5 out of a 5 star rating.
