Love this place! I’ve only been here twice, and both times I’ve had the lobster soup(which is rich and creamy and fabulous and full of fresh juicy krayfish). It comes with a little fresh salad and soft fresh bread. Nice staff, sunny window seats, charming little place. It’s in a quiet, tucked away location in a beautiful historical area. I have come both times at lunch. There is a little rush, but even though the place is small I’ve always found a seat. What more could you ask for?

Café Grande Rue is tucked away from the street, in a row of buildings from the 17th and 18th centuries, with a view to a lovely little square between Storgatan and Linnegatan, close to the Historika museet(museum). The café has a display explaining that there was already some kind of food establishment on the same premises in 1600-something. At any rate, it’s a charming location with great beverages(tea and hot chocolate were excellent) and some good food(I loved my thumb-print cookie; salad and sandwiches looked good but I didn’t try any). It’s a nice place to relax, particularly on a sunny day. Of course, we went there in July when the school next door is closed. So it’s quite possible that it wouldn’t be relaxing at all during school year…
