Tasty modern food inspired by northern Sweden — friendly staff and prices! I must admit I am biased by coming from the middle part of Sweden(however considered as far north by most of the population) — anyway, if you’re into trying out some real traditional Scandinavian foods with a modern touch, you’re at the right spot. They usually have daily meals to pick from but I would recommend to try out reindeer, moose or maybe a fish from the clear lakes of northern Sweden? I had the Boar risotto with spices, a tasty meal but for the marathon runner it would need to be complemented with a starter to fill you up a little bit more. The environment is very cosy, the staff is adherent to their guests’ needs and the prices are good for being located in central Stockholm. It’s a hidden gem for any tourists wanting to taste a bit of Northern Sweden.

This is a small and quiet restaurant with a nice atmosphere. I had the Reindeer starter and Moose which were exceptional. A bit pricey but the service was great. The waitress helped us to understand everything including the whale butter that accompanied the bread.

Great food and service! Knut would be my first recommendation for anyone who wants to try foods from the north in Stockholm.(Go on Mondays to have the very regional Piteå palt).

My husband and I had dinner here our first night in Stockholm. We were looking for something casual where we could try«Swedish food»(sorry, Happy Mex!). We shared the Northern Plate, Minced Moose Steak, and and the daily dish — Fried/glazed perch with root vegetables. It was delicious! I also really enjoyed the elderflower and lime cider I ordered with dinner. The service was great and the atmosphere relaxing.

For our last night in Stockholm we wanted a nice gourmet meal of Swedish style food. This restaurant was perfect. They did a nice«take» on traditional food, but took it up a notch. For appetizer we had the«Plate from the North». It included dried reindeer carpaccio, dried moose heart carpaccio, herring, white fish caviar, aged cheese, and some type of marmalade. Great flavors. For the main course we had fish soup(with saffron and light cream), and thin sliced moose steak with carrots, onions, cabbage, and potatoes. Great take on traditional dishes made wonderful. Dessert was dark chocolate and white chocolate truffle with elderberry and raspberry sauce. Another winner. It is located in a quiet suburb of Stockholm near the old observatory. Indoor and outdoor seating.

So great lunch place! They have a quite limited menu, but oh so good. One daily dish, one weekly, plus some other dishes. The place feels very welcoming and friendly. Every chair is different, and the tables look like they are 100 years old and made from driftwood. They have an outdoor section, and the personnel is very friendly. The food seemed to be cooked with love and care, and the ingredients were of high quality. There was nothing I didn’t like, and I can definitely recommend this place for lunch!

I wanted Swedish fare for my first night in Stockholm back in March, but my hosts didn’t have any recommendations! I guess the locals tend to eat everything but when going out, hehe. Anyway, I found Knut and had a really sweet dinner here. I popped in around 9PM and had a table for myself. The staff was very welcoming, answered my questions(«What’s ‘snaps’?»), and even offered the wifi password for me to read on my tablet with. They dropped in every now and then to make sure I was doin’ alright. I ordered the Minced moose steak, which came with a tasty pea purée and lingonberries. It was my first experience with moose meat and it was yummy! I enjoyed my dinner slowly with an e-book. The restaurant wasn’t loud and had a nice ambiance. I’d add an extra star for the dreamy chef that brought my dinner plate out to me if I could.

Knut is an experience of itself. Accompanied a visiting friend who wanted to taste authentic Swedish flavors and we were pleasantly surprised. The menu was seasonal(we got the spring menu), simple and carefully selected. The starter«Plate from the North» was quite interesting. Each appetizer complimented one another and it’s not every day you get to eat moose heart. For the main course we selected minced Moose, Cod and Lamb(takes the crown) each nicely presented while tasting even better. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere was relaxing. Especially admired how this place presented that Swedish way of keeping things simple but wholesome.

Loved this place! Cute little location, felt like a wonderful small restaurant one would discover in Paris or New York. Was the chance to try moose and — well, they made it as tasty as they could(but moose is not a dish I would recommend beyond trying once). However, the flatbread was incredible! Fish stew incredible! Extensive alcohol-free /virgin drink selection(ask for it not so sweet). Owner came by and gave us little homemade candies at the end. Lovely place A+.

Knut is a different but good restaurant. The service is excellent and the food is great but somewhat experimental, which is not a bad thing, just a different thing. It’s good value for the money spent and it has a great and relaxed vibe. Be sure to make a reservation since it can be quite crowdy.

Started with a beverage of bourbon + rowanberry + thyme. The bartender said that the rowanberry is typically very sour, so they offset that punch with sugar. It was tasty. The ambiance of this restaurant was rustic cozy. There are about 10 tables with varying number of seats and a bar with 10 seats. Good music during dinner. The cocktail menu is original and daring but pricey(135 sek /7.81 for USD conversion). The bread and butter basket was just the right pre-dinner snack. The butter was flavorful; soft bread was warm and soft. I ordered the moose steak dish and it was more like a meatball. The flavor was earthy and it was perfectly cooked. There was a flavorful creamy vanilla-type slightly sweet sauce. Berries(not sure what type) and a block of potato browned on all sides were served alongside the moose. I really enjoyed it. The flavors melded together nicely. I used the butter with sea salt from the bread basket on the potato cube. Sublime. Dessert was a warmed cloudberry(typical fruit of northern Sweden) with vanilla ice cream. The berry had an interesting flavor: tart, but not quite like a pomegranate. It looks like an orange blackberry, but doesn’t taste like one. The vanilla ice cream was rich and deep in true vanilla bean flavor. However, I’m not sure the two flavors(cloudberry and vanilla bean) worked together for me. I appreciated the crunchy morsels at the bottom of the ice cream. Overall nice, flavorful, Swedish dishes served in a cozy and comfy unpretentious atmosphere.

A small place with a great atmosphere 15 minutes outside Stockholm the city center. A short but complete menu makes easy to decided on what to eat. Our meal was very nice, and portions was not to large giving room for dessert. A perfect place for a relaxed evening with food and drinks!

I was there last Wednesday with a group of 8 people and I have to say the food was DELICIOUSES. I can’t remember the name of my meal, it was day’s special and it did taste very very good. The potato purée was so rich in taste, fluffy and sweet and next to the meat that pumpkin sauce. hmm yummy. I will definitely come back!

I absolutely love this place! I loved it so much that I had to come back before I returned to the states and just in time because the menu changes seasonally. Two weeks ago I had the special, a flank steak with a sage sauce and potatoes cooked perfectly. If you want a drink I suggest the cloudberry Mojito. The meat & cheese platter with reindeer carpaccio and moose was quite the Nordic touch and the special crème for the bread. Couple nights ago I just had to have the special again with salmon. The best I’ve had. Sprinkled with lingonberries and crayfish seasoned perfectly. It melts in your mouth. Nordic cuisine perfection. You can tell you are eating high quality Scandinavian dishes and for decent prices. Their cocktail«champagne of the North» with Lingonberries Sorbet was so delicious. Made me feel extra special to top off the night. I came alone but I thought it would be perfect for any occasion because you can chose between the outdoor patio or cozy indoors. I sat at the bar and the staff was super sweet. The evening atmosphere is relaxed and reminiscent of a Rustic cabin vacation home. If you’re in Stockholm it’s absolutely worth a walk from central station away from the loud touristy area. Everything I’ve had was impeccable and fresh. The menu is short and sweet with traditional favorites and modern twists.

We found ourselves with friends strolling around Vasastan and found this little Norrlandic restaurant called Knut. They are trying to use ingredients and cooking techniques from Norrland which makes puts the restaurant in a different cathegory imo. There are not many alternatives on the menu which is not that bad actually because since we all tried each different main course, we can say they are good at what they do. We ate«Torkad Ren»(135 kr) with applecutney sauce for starters and«Tunnbrödspizza»(198 kr), «Älgfärsbiff»(208 kr) which was juicy enough, «Fisk och Skaldjurspaj»(208 kr) cooked in a clay pot covered with mille-feuille dough and«Chokladfondant» with little salted chocolate taste(98 kr) for desert. All were good. We shared a bottle of Ripasso which was arounf 350 kr and matched well with both fish pie and the meat. Dimmed lights contributes to the calming athmosphere. Negative aspects were related to the tables and the loud/drunk guests at the downstairs. Tables were made of rough wooden planks so it is not nice to have a nice blouse on. It just pulls threads from your sweater so maybe it might be a good idea for the owner to place a glass panel on the tables to avoid that.
