I can’t count how many times I’ve glanced at this place from the bus window, and thought, ‘Meh’. For some reason I figured it was overpriced — one of those Södermalm ‘vintage’ shops which sell grandma’s clothes after adding a few zeros to the price tag. Finally I decided that was a silly assumption and that I should check it out. And boy am I glad I did! When I first walked in I thought the shop was teeny tiny, but I turns out it’s just made up of several different rooms. Pros: Not crowded Nice music Lots of gym shoes, cheap and in good condition Vintage brand name items No used H&M or Lindex crap like many second-hand stores Great selection of long fancy gowns Low prices Cons: I didn’t actually find anything I wanted to buy. Shop is poorly organized When I say poorly organized, I mean that there is no logic in where things are placed. However, it is still very tidy and clean, with nothing lying around out of place. It’s not much of a complaint really, it just means you have to poke around a bit more. BUT, I did decide that this place gets the trophy for Best Place to Prepare for a Costume Party. If you ever have a themed party — 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s — then skip Beyond Retro and come here instead. Sure, you can find everything at Beyond Retro, but it will cost you 400SEK or more, whereas here prices are more towards 150SEK. I noticed tons of sparkly tops, long gowns, drop-waist dresses, denim galore, bags, shoes, and more. Humana obviously selects their items somehow, as it’s not full of last season’s H&M like most second-hand stores. If you come here you do know that you will be finding worthwhile items.
