Really disappointed with the food. First of all the dishes could easily be served in half of the current sizes to cut some of the price. Very Americanized Mexican food(not what we expected). I would go back for their drinks though, also 1+ thanks to the great music :-).

Oh what a night to remember, but all for the wrong reasons. At first me and my company thought we were going to have a splendid night as the young man who seated us at the table was very friendly and attentive. When asked upon what dishes that were some what stronger and what the different dishes were, he seemed to have all the answers. He informed us as we sat down that there would be a band playing later on that evening and that we were more than welcome to stay to see it. Even if punk music is not my cup of tea, I thought it was a cool and free chance of seeing something that would broaden my mind. First thing to arrive on the table was a bowl of «nachos» and I have typed this within speech marks as they looked like it but tasted nothing like it. They were lacking some salty flavour and no table salt in the world could fix this. The accompanied salsa had some kick to it, but yet again it felt like something was lacking in the flavour. It was just flat and not as chunky as I would expect a salsa to be. In the midst of eating these nibbles we can hear and I can see a band member starting to hit/play the drums. We are quickly realizing that we seem to be having dinner in the middle of a sound check. Our waiter arrives to take our main orders and explains that the band are delayed and has to do a sound check now but that it shouldn’t take more than 5 minutes. I thought this was an absolute joke of a moment, like where is the Candid Camera??? When asking about the mains I wanted to ask if there was any dishes that were specifically spicy as I like strong food in moderate amounts. He said that all dishes had the same kick level as the salsa except one, which was a satisfying answer. I decided to go for the Oaxaca Black Bean Burrito with chicken(option of beef and vegan was available) as it was recommended by the waiter and my company had a Burrito Ranchero which the waiter said was his absolute favourite. So let’s talk about the deal breaker, the food. My dish looked good at start but what a disappointment! The spicy rice tasted like it was well overcooked with a hint of some tomatoes and flavourless coriander, basically uneatable. Just left it. Once I started eating the actual burrito I felt so disappointed! The chicken had the dry and watery context of tinned tuna and again, no flavour combined with some sad sallad leaves, some avocado and black beans. The side dish of refried beans were basically the highlight even though they were lacking salt.

So disappointed with this place. Came here a few weeks ago for tacos which was good, but my visit on the 22nd Aug was one of the worst restaurant visits I have ever had. A quick summary: * A band doing a sound check for a gig later that night — not told or informed until we started ordering * Food — rice was worthless, salsa had no flavour, chicken black bean burrito was dry and flavourless, * Service — waitress brought food and told us we had ordered something else. When we asked she suddenly realised it was what we had ordered –not a great image * Price — 534kr for the whole night! Overpriced for a romantic evening that was tainted. Won’t return here and so disappointed that I was let down. Shame as this resultant has good design and nice idea, something a little different in town, but they really let me down this time.

It is still so strange to me that so many restaurants close at 2pm to prepare for dinner– I’ve been staying in the USA too long I think! Anyway, I found myself in desperate need of food wandering around Gamla Stan in the pouring rain after usual luncheon hours when all of a sudden, this shining beacon of excellence popped up! I love Mexican cuisine and consider myself somewhat of a harsher critic on it then most so was a little suspicious, my lovely waitress assured me that Geronimo’s cooks were incredible so without much further ado I ordered a Beef Burrito(without Black Beans), a side of Guacamole and a Margherita. She was right, the food was incredible! My burrito was possibly one of the best I have ever tasted, the beef was succulent and melted in my mouth and the sauces blended well with the other ingredients. The guacamole was fresh and tasty and the Margherita was strong and delicious! Definitely wish I had more time so I could come back here and eat again! Also– the décor in this place is rad! Very cool to just hang and have drinks if you don’t feel like eating.

Great mexican restaurant with a funky cool interior. The food felt genuine and of high quality, miles better that most Tex-Mex in town. Good drinks, we had a Margareta pitcher. Friendly and attentive staff. An added bonus was the jazz band that played upstairs at Stampen. We will be back for sure.

I must confess, I have never been a true fan Bloody Mary. Tomato juice and celery, not my favorite combination and I have not always been convinced that it actually does much to balance(or hide) the flavor of alcohol but sometimes rather enhances it. However, as I have discovered with many drinks(and foods), it is not until you actually taste it ‘well made’ before you realize that you have been wrong all along. A few weeks back, I received an invite from my friends at Unilocal to join them for some cocktails an early evening at Geronimos FGT, in the old town of Stockholm that is, trying at least, to build a name for themselves with among other things an excellent Bloody Mary. Despite the choice of drink, I went, as it is the good company that was most important. Also, I heard some rumors that Geronimos Bloody Mary is well worth a try. The bar is underground, decorated with stuffed mounted animals and other ornaments from the prairie. There is a lot of space to sit down and even a nice chambre séparée, so this place is good for groups. A stage in the corner suggest that there are also bands playing now and then. All in all a nice looking bar, not perhaps my style, but still nice. The menu is some sort of mix fast food Mexican and American food with some inspiring details. There is slightly more effort put into using herbs, spices and good produce than at the your average taco stand. However it is still simple enough dishes for an honest after work meal. We ordered one Bloody Mary special(a Bloody Mary with a hamburger sticking out of it — yes, you read it right, a hamburger), some tacos and a burger. We also tried the Mexican Mule(a tequila-version of a Moscow Mule). The cocktails were great! The Bloody Mary tasted like a spicy gazpacho and the Mexican Mule was fresh with lime and ginger. To my disappointment, the Bloody Mary started tasting a bit too diluted after a while, I think it had a bit too much ice in it and it was perhaps not properly mixed as the alcohol flavor came through strongly at times. Next time round I will have a Virgin Mary as I think it will actually be tastier. The food was as expected, good but not great. Value for money wise it is ok for Stockholm, but be aware that some of the dishes(like the tacos) are quite small.

I’m a fan of this place because it’s quirky. I think that a lot of the unusual elements about this restaurant work in it’s favor rather than against it. Like the strange layout and the hard to read menu would normally be considered annoying, but I think the way they’ve done it here it feels sort of fun! And, It’s definitely a bit hipster! I do have to say that the place could’ve been a little easier to navigate if there was someone upstairs to greet you and tell you where to go. Or, a least a big sign over the stairs that said«Restaurant»! If there was a sign I couldn’t see it. We just ended up walking in and exploring a very empty upstairs bar area until we found the stairs going down to the main restaurant. Once you get downstairs, I still think it’s a little strange that you have to walk all the way through the restaurant and up to a bar in order to get seated. I know this isn’t a chain restaurant and having a «greeter» might not be considered that«hip», but I think it’s important especially when the space is unusual. Once we finally met the waiter/bartender he was really nice and helpful. The service was good and at a decent speed. The pitcher of margaritas we ordered came fast and was a fun touch to the evening. I ordered the Oaxaca Black Bean Burrito with chicken. It was decent, though a little dry and the chicken was a bit over cooked, but not too bad. I think the rice side could have been a little less dry as well. It was really all just ok, nothing special. Though, I think my expectations of good Tex-mex have been lowered a bit since living here in Stockholm. I’ll eat ok Mexican where I can get it in this city sometimes, so you have to take that into account. There are definitely better food places in Gamla Stan, but I loved the salsa and chips and margaritas so much i’ll let everything else pass! I do have to note, that though the dishes were dry, everything did feel fresh and homemade, which is nice! A couple things I would recommend to the owner would be to definitely always have a greeter upstairs to direct people and keep an eye on the bar. I saw people coming in curiously to possibly get a drink or food and walking right back out in confusion. I think they’re missing out on a lot of customers that way. I also think it’s a security risk to have all that stuff and alcohol in the window unattended. I was sad to see the space upstairs going totally unused. They could put in a little more space optimal seating/standing table arrangement in order to keep people up near the windows so it seems busy and inviting. I think it’s a waste of space the way it is at the moment. They are missing out on their entire walk-in clientele! You have like only one minute before people walking by decide it’s too confusing and empty before they move on to another bar or restaurant. I think It’s also a huge waste of money when your rent or mortgage is paying for unused and unprofitable floor space. I like the potential of this restaurant and I want to see more decent Mexican food moving into Stockholm, so I would like to see this place stick around and get better! I hope they make some changes there. If your looking for a unique evening, check this place out! I recommend coming here for margaritas and chips at the very least and then hitting up one of the other hipster bars popping up in the Gamla Stan area like The Corner Club, Gaston Vinbar(wine bar), The Flying Elk, Pharmarium or Tweed. =)
