I paid 500kr for a shellac manicure — great service and staff, clean facilities, except my nail chipped in 1 hour. Biggest rip off ever.

Okay — so, I have to say that right off I really LOVE the concept of «buying time» — it’s clever… Also, the people who work there are extremely kind and friendly. Unfortunately, my rating is based on my experience with the treatments and the comfort which are the 2 most important aspects of a «spa» in my book. First off, you can tell that guys designed the place. It’s very modern and unique, however it is not very comfortable. I could not think of a worse seating arrangement to get a mani/pedi than BACKLESS High Stools. You are left slouching and as you get a manicure you fight with the«manicurist» for foot space on the small board below. I much prefer the classic, and perhaps they might find them boring, but nonetheless very comfortable cushioned chairs that you can lean back and relax in — particularly the pedicure spa chairs that recline. Now onto the treatments. I am very used to getting manicures. Generally you sit down and are asked«cut of file»(if your nails are very overgrown as mine were) and I like my nails really short so they usually cut them down and then file for the perfect shape. Most importantly you always feel the manicurist is in control and knows what they are doing. The very sweet girl who started my manicure felt more like a girlfriend at a sleep over who wanted to paint my nails for fun. When I asked her to cut down my nails as I like them short, she informed me she has never used nail clippers before and had to look around the place to even find a pair. She proceeded to cut my thumb nail over and over and over as if she was attempting to shape my nail with these clippers — all the while almost shaking, clipping my skin a couple times here and there — finally I explained once she clipped it short, she could use the file to shape and smooth the nail. About 15 minutes passed and she had cut 3 nails!!! I mean. at this point I was a little worried — I foresaw another problem and asked her can you«cut» my cuticles — she was not sure what I meant and explained she cuts little pieces of skin on the sides of if it is sticking out, but did not think it was possible to cut the cuticles(which I am very accustomed to). The worst part was that it felt like she had absolutely no confidence in what she was doing — the manicure felt very soft, delicate and not very thorough. For the first time in my life, I actually stopped the manicure, walked out and went to another place and begged for a walk-in appointment. I would recommend that the manicurists go get their nails done at «Feet & Nails» «Five Five Nails» or one of the other larger nail salon chains in the city to see how they do it — and perhaps if they have not already gone through an education for doing nails, it would be wise. My friend had a massage here as well — said the massage was fine — like most massages. but the massage therapist talked the entire time — which was a turn off as she wanted to relax and get to the point where you almost fall asleep, but it was impossible. When she would try to end conversations, the therapist just started up another one. I really really reallllly hope this place can improve their services — as I mentioned before I find the overall concept to be fantastic!!! And I think they are really great people working there!!!
