My favourite nightclub venue in Stockholm. Great music and fun crowd. Wanna have a good night out in Stockholm? Then i recommend a visit. Altough the guards can be kind of harsh, café opera is a nightclub to be reckond with. I guarantee a night of fun. This legendary nightclub has been out and about for such a long time that My parents actually met there 30 years ago. On fridays they also serve a trip down memory lane for those who visited in their earlier days– something called soul train. Recommended days: wednesdays, fridays, saturdays and some sundays, check their website out for guestlist!

Down the drain, but that’s probably because I’m too old and have too many memories of the«old» Café Opera…, well shit happens!

On y a été un dimanche donc cet avis peut changer en fonction du jour. Néanmoins l’endroit est très guindé et doit être assez sélectif et élitiste. La musique est sympa mais le prix exorbitant est assez handicapant.

Pro: the main room is beautiful. That’s pretty much the only redeeming quality about this place. Cons: 1. Everything is expensive 2. Most of the people there are not there to dance and enjoy themselves. They just stand around their tables looking pretty and bored and dance with minimal effort. 3. Dance floor is super small, most of the space is reserved for table service. 3. The crowd on the cramped dance floor is awful! I understand that it is a trendy place and that I should expect to see mostly rich, plastic-looking people but for the life of me, these people(mostly girls) are also entitled and rude. They really think they are the hottest sh*t out there. The girls(and occasionally guys) wouldn’t hesitate to violently push and shove you in order to move to a spot they want to go to. Most of the people on the dance floor were girls and for being skinny to average-sized, each girl takes up a lot of space to dance. Even when there were only two of them in a group, they wouldn’t even try to dance in a circle but would swing their arms wildly while violently disrespecting other people’s space with their bodies, having no qualms about punching others with their elbows. My friend and I had to continuously move out of these rude girls’ way yet to find ourselves being pushed and shoved again by people passing through and rude newcomers to the dance floor. I’ve been to more packed clubs in Vegas where people were actually sh*t-faced and yet, I’ve never had to deal with such a rude crowd as this. It really ruined my first experience clubbing in Stockholm. I really hope Café Opera is not representative of all Stockholm clubs. In the end, I stopped being nice and actually tried to push back whenever someone shoved me with their butt but somehow, the skinny Swedish girls in this club possess more force than I do and I found myself being squeezed against my friend between a bunch of chaotically dancing girls. 4 All the gogo dancers were black and had to wear these exotic-looking clothes while doing some dance that is very similar to a African folk dance for the predominantly whit club patrons below. Something about this makes me very uncomfortable. Not sure if I’m being too easily offended in thinking that this arrangement has a hint of racism but I really dislike the idea that this reminds me of native people putting on a performance for the entertainment of the white colonists.

One of the most classic venues in Stockholm offering a nightclub in a historical atmosphere. You will most probably not have a bad night here, but of course the crowd can vary depending on day and occasion. Lately they have implied a stricter face control in door trying to snap it up. Also inside they offer a more Vegas like atmosphere with dancers and light shows when bottles are ordered to tables. I guess its a good effort but i dont know if i swallow the whole thing so far. Pricing is steepish/normal by Stockholms measures and will not do further damage than you allow it to. Coat check can be a bummer with a crazy line during winter, so be smart or bring patience. Its a great place overall, but time will tell how it all ends and i hope they dont get high on horses.

Hmm. Often mentioned as one of Stockholm’s poshest nightclubs, with the most beautiful, well dressed people, its reputation stands before it. But I wouldn’t call anything about it posh except the prices. It certainly doesn’t qualify under classy either unless you like overcrowded rooms with the floors littered with who knows what sticking to your shoes, constant streams of people pushing past you to go «somewhere else», or DJs remixing the bejeezus out of 7 songs at once/automatic fire-extinguishers going off at 100db. The«bar» area is for all purposes a tent, with a VIP section for those that rule the tent bars of the world(we spotted a Dr. Dre and Pitbull look-a-like, but they must have blown their cash on new«aviators» because the limousines at the end of the night weren’t letting them in), and while the dance floor may have beautiful hanging Chandelier’s it still somehow felt like a dirty basement to me. This place actually reminds me more of Lady Patricia than a Stureplan nightclub. OK but I give it a decent rating because of these things, not in spite of them. This place is a shit show. All kinds of people are in here. Sure lots of beautiful ones but no different than any other Stureplan club and it seemed to me, worse dressed(and why would you go all out to be in a sea of people), so remove the whole posh label from your mind and just think overpriced. Then dance in the sea with your friends or try and make new ones if your vocal chords hold out from screaming in each others ear all night. That old adage, «if you’re more intelligent than you are pretty, don’t hangout in clubs» will be in full effect here. In case you haven’t gotten it yet, this place isn’t for showing off your maturity or your age really. But any age will work if you just want to throw around oodles of money and be showered by fireworks when you order bottle service. Strongly trending towards 2 stars because of the ridiculous prices but should be a 3 star night at least. That being said, I’ll go elsewhere next weekend and have zero interest in returning!

It’s a really big club with an nice outdoor lounge were you can dance, mingle and drink! The they have three dancefloors which makes this to a pretty big club, although they don’t always have all of them open! The music is good and club is aimed to a older clientele then I’am but I usually enjoy it here!

In our journey to Stockholm, we went twice to Café Opera and I guess the final rate would be 3.5 but I guess I am a nice guy so take your 4 stars; let me explain. To start with, several of my friends back home kind of build very high expectations about this place as far as being the best club in the city, best music, and hottest crowd; so you can imagine that I wanted to love that place. Sat: Arrived around 1130/midnight, the place wasn’t too crowed yet which was nice to enjoy the décor(beautiful big room with french chandelier, etc…). However we couldn’t buy a bottle because we didn’t have a table or they didn’t want to let us drink it at the bar!!! First time in my life, a nightlife establishment refuses my $$$. Anyway, few grey goose red bull down the road, the place(which is only one main room, a covered patio and a small vip room) was crowed. Indeed it was maybe the most beautiful crowd ever. It feels like every man and women were coming out of a victoria secret or calvin klein fashion show. Music was also good. However I felt it was lacking some major ambiance and energy. I guess the main room is shaped weirdly which doesn’t allow a lot of dancing space. The tables are set and organized almost like at a restaurants which makes it almost hard for those people to dance. Plus, saying that Sweden is expensive is a true statement but Café Opera will top those prices a bit just to be sure you remember that lol Not sure if it was this night only, but we also felt there were a lot of big groups together, which as tourists, make it harder to break the ice or meet the locals. SO i guess was a bit of love/hate for me at first. Sun: Since nothing was really popping on this night in Stockholm, we decided to head back on Sundays around 11. Place was dead and the main floor closed. However the free entrance that night helped us to at least to have a drink in the patio. In 1hr or so, it went from dead to pretty crowed with the same attractive crowd and 90% of locals only. DJ’s that night was a lady and was awesome music!!! I guess this was the place to be on a Sunday night in the city! Long story short, if you have one night in Stockholm, this may not be the best place to go however if you have at least 2 nights, I would at least go check it out. If you like it then you will stay and enjoy the nigh; else be prepared to bounce if you don’t feel the ambiance like us on the first night. This is coming from a fairly expert person of the night so don’t get me wrong, this is a very very solid club option.

This place is very popping and plays awesome eclectic mix of hip-hop, house, and other various catchy mainstream dance music at night. It’s relatively easy to get in but even girls have to pay the steep cover charge of 220SEK($ 33)!! Buuuuuuuu!!! Minus 1 star! What makes this place unique is the beautiful opulent décor. Housed in magnificent historical interior spaces in the Opera House, dancing under the gorgeous chandeliers was priceless! It’s a one of a kind place so I suggest to splurge it and dance away the night!
