This place is surprising! I would say the food is 3 stars, just okay, normal Swedish café but they do have a good variety of treats. The street level seating is super tight and it’s hard to move around in this place if there is a line(which there seems to often be). They have a window bar for watching people on the street and there’s pretty good people watching within the place itself to be honest, and seems to be what the small, narrow upstairs is for since the main seating there is a bar that overlooks the main room. What I found cool about this place and was shocking was the downstairs! There are two rooms downstairs, both more quiet than upstairs and probably much better for focused studying, but the furthest room has such a nice, relaxed style. I at first thought i was walking into a heroin den — it was lightly populated, very dark, and no one was talking at all. But the more I sat in the dark and looked up at the«starry-night» décor, and the low pillow couches lining the wall the more I felt like I was in some sort of «make out» room. Very odd, but nice! The WiFi was strong and I felt no pressure to make space for more people downstairs. There was lots of room. Kind of a big place to have just one bathroom though. This isn’t in «my neighborhood» but I would definitely recommend this as a place to hang out with a friend or two. I have come here a couple times and it’s on my short list for places to get things done. There is an environment for everyone(as long as you don’t mind basements) and distractions enough.

The food and coffe is okey but the staff is rather not that into their job. I recommend the window seat for peoplespotting on the shoppingstreet outside.

My sweetheart and I tried this place after being snubbed at Italiano. We were greeted warmly and enjoyed the most delicious food. I ordered the Cosa Nostra salad, which has everything a foodie salad junky loves: generous chunks of Feta, slices of beets, walnuts, red onion, radicchio, kalamata olives, super fresh greens, corn… this salad was a work of art and it was served with a very tasty herbed vinaigrette and a very generous portion of thinly sliced prosciutto on top! My sweetheart had the turkey lasagna, which was light and featured perfectly balanced proportions of cheese, meat sauce and noodles and it was delicately seasoned. There is an art to making balanced and beautifully-seasoned lasagna. Some places give you too much noodle and not enough cheese or sauce, and other places dont take the time to develop the flavors in the sauce, that takes love and passion. Well the balance in this lasagna was so perfect I could taste the love and passion in every bite. Also, for some of you Americans that suffer from sticker shock when you visit Sweden, Baresso is reasonably priced. I cant wait to go back !!!
