Brännö Värdshus

Great place for Sunday lunch. We came to the island for a visit and stopped here. Very reasonable prices. Beautiful setting and friendly staff. The food was amazing. I had fish with mashed potatoes and some kind of seafood cream sauce. It was so delicious.

5 stars. It is 4.5 star food at a 3 star price here on the island of Branno in the archipelago off of the coast of Gothenburg. I had the Hake special with melted butter and topped with shaved horseradish and little shrimps. It also came with the typical, and delicious, swedish potatoes. It was all very, very fresh and expertly prepared. My wife had the salmon with dill mustard and dill cream potatoes with a small salad of greens on the middle. This is a very typical swedish dish and the freshness was, again, very apparent. For dessert I had the crème brûlée and the wife had the dark chocolate cake with a raspberry compote. We were both scraping our plates for the final morsels. The staff was extremely nice and helpful (we don’t speak swedish… Yet). This is a surprisingly fantastic find on this beautiful, peaceful island. Get the Gothenburg city card for free public transit (such as the ferry to the island) while visiting.
