«There are no problems, only solutions.» ~John Lennon Prague has some of the best public transportation in Europe. They have street cars that crisscross the city, buses, trains and the 3-line subway known as the Prague Metro. Like much of Europe, the system is clean, efficient and has monitors above the tracks indicating the number of minutes before the next train arrives(something New York City’s MTA could desperately use). One oddity of the system is its depth. I got the feeling I was heading to a cold war bunker when riding down on the 100 meter long escalator at one of the stations which caused a little bit of vertigo. If you look over at the people riding the escalator the other direction, they all seem to be leaning away from what could be a fatal tumble. The system is no-frills. You’re not going to find a coffee shop or an H&M in the stations, but it has an air of efficiency that harkens back to the days of the Soviet Union. It is also a bargain. Buy the 3-day pass which includes all public transportation in the city for 310CZK(about $ 12).
