This place would probably be everybody’s favorite restaurant in a less spoiled district in Prague and in a lot of small towns. Being surrounded by all the culinary awesomeness Vinohrady has to offer, though? Hmmm… One star for the beer(Gambrinus on tap… excellent). Another star for the food which is just OK. Nothing special, but tasty. Let me tell you why I can’t really distribute any more stars. We were there for lunch and we saw very little people. Still we noticed two people complaining at the bar about something that went wrong with their bill or their change during payment… it felt like the staff wasn’t able to get 20% of transactions right. Service overall was pretty slow. We ordered a small beer, water and two different dishes including soups from the lunch menu. After quite some time(considering it was lunch time and service should be pretty quick) we got the water — which the waiter brought using one of his hands. Then he went back to the bar, poured us the glas of beer and came back — again using only one of his hands. Could I make a suggestion? The absolute highlight of our visit at Kravin was a guy who walked around like he was something special — which he probably was since he didn’t have to wear the uniform the other staff members were wearing. After our waiter took our order he came to us and asked us wether we had already chosen. Yes we had, actually. Then he looked at us very tired, not smiling or anything, and then he left our table. While we were eating we watched him walking through the restaurant extreeemely slowly, sometimes carrying an empty dish(using only one hand of course) or a plate for another guest(using only one hand of course). I’m not joking, he was really half as fast as all the others working there. As if he was exhausted he got himself a glass of Cider, turned around to the wall and slowly drank up the whole glass while facing the wall. This place has sooo much potential. The kitchen is good, the beer is excellent. It just seems that it is ruined by bad management and(probably a consequence) a lack of motivation. I would love to see this place perform better. Until then I am going to head to the competition for lunch(which is just across the square and sooo much better).
