Ohh, how I love this place! The employees are really friendly, professional and organized. If you’re not sure what you want next, just ask — and they’ll come up with something magical ;-) My favorite drinks were whisky-based; bitter and spicy. Hemingway make the best cocktails I’ve ever tried. Even for me who don’t prefer mixed drinks. Ps: you might want to reserve a table here as the place is popular

In another urban area, Hemingway Bar would be a 4 star joint, but it definitely stands out in Prague’s beer dominated drinking culture. We opened the place up at 5pm with pre-dinner drinks. Several friendly bartenders chatted with us about our travels and our drinks. I had two drinks, which were both prepared well. Definitely recommended for cocktails in Prague!

This is the best bar I’ve ever been to. Drinks are second to none. I’m extremely picky and I spend a fair amount of time in bars. Make a reservation to be safe!

This is dangerous place in a good sense. Great atmosphere, amazing choice of liquers(especially rums) and coctails, friendly staff and fortunately some closing hours otherwise it would be realy hard to leave. It´s always pleasure to spend money here :-)

Prague’s Hemingway bar is consciously named like that to attract tourists and decorated in all things writers enjoy, like typewriters and alcohol. Hemingway in fact never went there. The etiquette requires you to be seated by the waiter, who will recommend you drinks and help out during the night. Both of ours were brilliant, friendly and polite and always ready to answer any questions we had. I tried a mojito like cocktail with rum they created in house which was very tasty and then me and my friend got some absinthe. They serve it with a strange hourglass like contraption that has ice cubes at the top which slowly melt and the cold water is then poured into your glass drop by drop through a small tap and then falls through a silver spoon with little holes containing a sugar cube. We were told this is the correct way to drink absinthe and drinking it as shots is totally wrong. Having done both, I agree with our waiters, as this is the best way to bring out the anise flavour and smoothness of the drink. When visiting you should make sure you remain fairly quiet, as another group next to us was asked to leave for being too noisy. You are also not allowed to be loud in the street after 11 so make sure you are aware of how much you drink. Other than that’s it’s a very cool bar to go to and great for grabbing a few classy cocktails near Charles Bridge without being in the busy touristy bars.

We had a great time at this bar until they accused us of stealing a canteen(it was part of a drink). We let them look through our purses and everything and they still acted like we took it. Very disappointed with the ending of our service. But still a cool bar to go to. Just watch out, especially if you’re American or from another place!

I had the opportunity to go to Hemingway Bar during my trip to Prague this past April. I made a reservation a couple days in advance for a group of five. Upon arriving at the bar, we were greeted by a man at the door. I gave him the name for our reservation, and we were promptly escorted to our table. The bar itself is very well decorated — low lighting with a lot of books and tchotchkes that fit well with the ambiance of the space. There is a downstairs area as well as an upstairs area, where we were seated. Our waiter was incredibly attentive, always aware of the needs of the table and ready to give suggestions about drinks. He also gave us a ton of suggestions for cool bars in other cities in Europe that we were going to visit, which I really appreciated. My friends and I tried several drinks, all of which were amazing: Hulky Smash; Mary Welsh; Eau de Cocktail for Women; Eau de Cocktail for Men, Lights, Camera, Action; Blueberry and Black Currant Caipiroska, Miss Bobo, B-Celebration No.2, Rested Nail, Arrested After Dark I highly recommend this bar and think it is definitely a must-go if you like interesting cocktails and are in Prague!

YOUGUYS. This is my favorite bar in all Prague. Maybe all Europe. A friend told me about this place a while ago, but we stumbled upon it by accident one night. When we walked in, we were immediately greeted by a man who seated us at the bar. Their drink menu has a page dedicated to their«rules» and one of them is that they will refuse customers when there are no seats available, hence why we were seated by someone who worked there. Okay, so the cocktails. They have the most unique, creative, and delicious drinks ever! Each drink has their own style and type of glassware and part of the fun was seeing what the drink actually looked like after it was made. My friend and I had such a great time here, we came back the very next night. Between the two of us, we ordered almost every drink on the menu over a two-night span. My favorite was the«Hulky Smash». It also had the most ridiculous glassware, but that’s beside the point. The«Blueberry and Black Currant Caipirosa» was also a serious contender for best drink. It came in a mason JAR(with a lid) and with a little wooden spoon full of blueberry jam. Adorned with mint and lime, this was amazing. The«iDrink» was fun — designed with Apple in mind, this drink played up iTunes and apples. Made with egg whites and apple cider, this drink went down way too fast! My least favorite TASTING one was the«Eau de Cocktail for Women»… but oh my gosh, presentation alone should have made this one a winner. The bartender brings you a serving tray with a old fashioned wine glass and something that appears to be a perfume box. You open the box and inside is a beautiful old glass bottle of perfume… which is really your drink. WHAT?! Unfortunately, it tasted like perfume to me though. I’m not a big fan of lavender or hibiscus, so this probably derailed me. You must order this though, if only for the presentation. The«Miss Bobo» comes with a small gingersnap cookie, and the«B-Day Celebration No. 2» comes in a hilarious mug that requires you to drink through a built-in straw/spigget. There’s a reason for this… ask your bartender. I could go on and on about the drinks, but seriously, half the fun is seeing what’s brought out to you, so I won’t ruin any more surprises. If you’re in Prague, you have to check this place out!

No problem at all snagging a seat at the bar for one on a later Thursday night. I am quite in love with the experience I just had here. The bartenders were friendly and courteous, taking the time to make sure you’re taken care of but also paying special care to making you fabulous cocktails. I tried both Hemingway’s Gasoline(the drink is served in a metal flask that you pour over the block of ice in your glass; the ice is stamped with the Hemingway name, by the way) and Miss Bobo(daintily served in a tea cup with a meringue-like cookie on the side). Both were expertly crafted. The place has a great vintage speakeasy like vibe with zero pretension(despite the posted rules). And they earn bonus points for the 70s playlist they had on tonight! I already want to go back here while I’m still in Prague. I also want to try their other bar, Cash Only, just down the street.

Drinks were good. They had good flavor! Unfortunately we were very put off by the poor service. We were a group of 8 with a reservation. We had ordered at least 12 drinks within 45 minutes and were enjoying our time. The atmosphere was super cool! Unfortunately, the waiter with a mustache and bow tie came to our table and right as we were about to order another round of drinks. He says«there’s eight of you here, a line outside, and only four of you have a drink in your hand. I can only tolerate so much!» None of us in the group have been treated so poorly. We were about to ask for another drink and he insinuated we were just lounging. Which is actually what you do at a swanky bar like this. Overall, cool interior, overpriced drinks for the Czech Republic, rude waiter. I only wish we had gotten his name. Check out the Atmosphere bar a little ways away.

It’s Friday. There is a line, yes. The host seemed a bit stressed but honestly sat everyone as efficiently as possible; much better than the US. And that’s saying something. Given the Yell reviews(which are much rarer in Czech Rep.), I was sure fellow tourists would absolutely swarm this place. The vibe is very much NYC, with a quaint, dimly lit atmosphere. With that said, you can somewhat expect a «stuffy» feel, but I disagree. It felt classy, which I think every day tourists might misinterpret. The waitress was very patient while I read the quite extensive liquor menu and finally made my way through the unique cocktail list, which rotates seasonally(or else I’d specifically recommend a drink for you). I later made my way to the bar and had the pleasure of meeting the friendly and talented bartender. I left satisfied with exceeded expectations. TL;DR? It’s worth the wait. The service isn’t as bad as some reviews suggest. The drinks are novel and phenomenal.

Hemingway Bar is a well-decorated and intimate bar in Prague. This place was packed when I arrived, and we were told to come back in an hour. An hour later it was still not available, but the waitress Sandra was so kind and told us to wait at the bar across the street– she came to grab us when the next table was free. There was an upper-level, but my party of 4 was sat downstairs. We sat down on comfortable sofas, and to my left was an old fashion typewriter on display. It was elegant yet causal. There was a list of 20 specialty cocktails on the drink menu, and my group decided we wanted to try at least half of them. My first drink was the BBQ Mary; this was made with mezcal, lemon juice, tomato juice, barbecue sauce, and other spices. The drink came with a piece of bacon on the side topped with dijon mustard. This was my first time having a bloody mary with mezcal instead of vodka. The mezcal gives the drink smokey notes and the hint of barbecue tastes compliments the drink so well. I recommend this drink to all bloody mary and mezcal lovers. Other one of my favorite drink is the Hulky Smash. This contains absinthe, homemade Velvet Falernum, lemon juice, cucumber juice, grapes, mint, and topped with licorice candies. The Eau de Cocktail(there are two; one for men the other for women) I’d also recommend. These cocktails are served in perfume bottles to match their names. The presentation is entertaining, and the drink tasted so pretty. Photos:

Showing up alone, and without a reservation, I felt like a total jackass even attempting to visit Hemingway Bar. This place is just wildly popular, at least with tourists. Everybody I met/witnessed was in Prague for Holiday, so I’m unsure if it’s been embraced by the locals, but whatever… more amazing cocktails for me! But I get ahead of myself. I walk up to the bar, and there are numerous groups trying to sweet-talk the door guy into a table, but no dice. This place is full, and all the time. Fortunately, when i sheepishly say that I’m alone and b/c of their reputation I just want to try a cocktail before I leave Prague, the gatekeeper moves some things around and gets me a seat at the bar. He’s incredibly hospitable and gracious, something that is lacking at most of the spots I visited in Prague, and is a quality shared by the entire staff at Hemingway Bar. These people know service, and know it impeccably well. Once I’m in the bar, I go over their smallish menu of craft cocktails. But size isn’t everything, and the drinks that I experienced were simply out-of-this-world good. First I had the Hemingway’s Gas, which is playfully served in a gas can-shaped flask, a rocks glass, and one giant ice cube that is pressed with the bar’s logo. Classy! Oh, and amazing. This drink was phenomenal, and that flask holds more than you might imagine. Next up I had the Mezcal Sour, which was smokey and spicy and frankly amazing. It was my favorite of the two, which was a difficult choice to make. I left fairly quickly as I didn’t need to spend too much time alone at the bar. But in the unlikely instance that I find myself back in Prague, I will certainly visit this bar. They’re truly at the top of their game and deserve all the accolades and more.

Loved the vibe here. Classy and cozy. Drinks were good — interesting and creative but not quite as gimmicky as the drinks at AnonymouS. They have a set of rules that encourage a less boisterous environment. They don’t let people in unless they have seats available(keep that in mind if heading here with a large group — we saw 2 groups turned away). They also had guidelines on the menu that told patrons not to speak to other tables and if they wanted to buy someone a drink, to tell the bartender to see if they were interested. Thought that was unique. Definitely made for a much more subdued tone — great for a date. Friendly service.

What a brilliant place! Decent cocktails and great vibe. We got a seat upstairs in the non smoking area. I chose a blueberry and blackcurrant Caipiroska. Felt like I was in Key West more than centre of Prague. I had heard about the«rules» but didn’t notice them. Had a great view of their champagne fridges :) I definitely recommend you take a visit here.

I normally pay 15 euro for a cocktail creation so to find this place on Unilocal was a surprise. Some reviews talked about house rules which made this place stuffy but it wasn’t. It’s very key West in its décor and the cocktails are well prepared and presented. Fast and friendly service and we’ll worth seeking out finally the toilets were spotless.

We wandered over late in the evening –this place was on our list of places we hoped to check out. At the door, the hostess asked how many in our party… When we said four, she said sorry, they were full and suggested another bar they own. We wandered around and looked at the castle over the river for a bit and peeked in other bars… A little while later we decided to try again(this time hiding my husband’s bare legs as he was wearing shorts behind us). She admitted us and put us at a lovely table with couches and comfortable chairs in the back room. The walls were covered in photos of Ernest throughout his life. The prices were steep as our four drinks cost more than dinner with many beers that evening but it was an experience not to be missed; and when can you drink Perrier Jouet for $ 10 a glass? They had an extensive list of scotches and many cigars as well. Their house cocktail list was interesting and one came in a camera lens glass. The other drinks were served in crystal – my champagne poured in a Perrier Jouet Fleur flute, my husband’s scotch in Baccarat. There is a list of etiquette at the front of the cocktails list that is quite entertaining. You are not permitted to speak to anyone at another table. If you wish to buy someone a drink, you must speak with your server. They will see if the person wishes to accept said drink. Then even if yes, you are not permitted to speak with that person. They must come over to you if they choose. And many other interesting rules. It was a step back in time and something not to miss.(I didn’t take photos inside because it didn’t seem polite… Now looking at photos here I wish I had.)

Hemingway was one of the highlights of our trip to Prague! The atmosphere was unmatched and the service was excellent! I ordered«Hemingway’s Paparazzi», and my drink was served in an actual camera lens! SOCOOL! This will be on the more expensive side as far as drinks in Prague, but I cannot recommend it enough. Reservation is necessary.

Great cocktail bar. If you are coming later in the evening make sure you have reservations. Since it was just 2 of us at 6 they said we could stay till 8. Thank you… I think? Great service with prohibition style cocktails. The prices are high by Czech standards but compared to some speak easys in nyc, the drinks were at a steal at $ 5 a pop. Great presentation and you can even order cigars if you want.

Ambiete: Ein sehr stilvoll eingerichtete Bar.
