This was such a huge disappointment. After taking a look at their menu online, I was compelled to give this place a go since it seemed like the exact type of place you would go to in order to get some good sushi. When we first walked in, I was pretty impressed with the décor and it seemed like the place had good potential. Menu had a lot of typical Japanese dishes, but then it went a bit downhill. Perhaps it’s my fault for having an expectation when I came to this place. I was expecting typical Japanese food… and while it sort of met my expectation to a minimum level, it mostly did not. My friends ordered very basic rolls – the Philadelphia Roll, a California Roll with Tobiko, and the interpretations of these basic Japanese dishes was extremely off. Firstly, the tobiko was mixed into the rice which basically wastes the flavor of it, all the sushi were fried on the outside, the California roll had raw fish, etc. I couldn’t tell who the chef was since our waiter was bringing us food from both angles but I’m guessing it’s not authentic based on these interpretations. I took a gamble and decided to go for the daily special which was tuna in sesame and rice with ponzu sauce. The ponzu sauce was definitely very on point; I’ll give them that. The rice was authentic sticky rice so that’s good too I guess. I should have asked for the tuna seared, and it was my mistake to assume that it would be a sear. It ended up just being tuna cooked through so it was tough and not that appetizing. The seaweed salad that came with my dish was good though. From a service perspective, despite the fact that we were the only people dining in the restaurant when we ordered, the waiter forgot my friend’s order. He delivered all of ours in a very stagnated order(two of my friends got their sushi about 20 min after mine, and then my last friend got his maybe 40 min later) which is absurd given the fact that it’s sushi and shouldn’t need to be cooked. There was no apology about the forgotten order. When the bill came, our waiter was really struggling and I guess they just don’t have change either? I needed about 100 kc in change which I really don’t think is that absurd. The bill was also absurdly high given the poor quality and little amount of food we got. All of my friends ended up going out for a second meal and each one paid at least 400 kc. tldr; very expensive, inauthentic Japanese food. huge disappointment. If you’re going to pay that much, you might as well at least get real Japanese food.

Located next to Italian Bibita Nuova, this newly opened Japanese restaurant offers delicious soups, a few options for meat and noodles, and an amazing selection of sushi for a good price. They also have traditional Japanese desserts and rather small choice of tea. The service is excellent, the waiter not only brings the dishes, but also describes what it is. I haven’t yet seen this place crowded, but it is quite small, so the reservation for the evening is recommended. They have tables for two and four, and can possibly put them together for a larger group of people. Don’t know if it’s of any use to somebody, but the sign on the door says they can also speak Russian.
