After being in York for a little while and sanding around the cute little city… Probably more than any local resident(ha!)… We kept passing by this place and each time we did, we would get transfixed by the PORKCRACKLINGS staring us down through the glass window. Prior to coming to the UK, all I heard about from fiancé was HOWAMAZINGPORKCRACKLINGSARE… But he was a tiny bit skeptical of this only offering in York. Alas, on our last day there… I MADEHIM get some(even though I don’t eat pork, I still wanted to try a TINY bite). Gross. Yep. Gross. Not sure why there is a long line out the door of this place, oh maybe because it’s a small venue, and maybe they actually dish up GOODPORKAND/OR TURKEY sandwiches, but the cracklings… Gah! I tried a TINYNIBBLE and actually felt GUILTY for doing so because I don’t like eating nasty food… Fiancé, ate two cracklings and then proceeded to throw away the rest of the cup and for the rest of the day had a bad taste in his mouth… And we officially have a bad taste in our mouth, in general, about The York Roast. Maybe Brits have a different palette than Americans? To each their own.

Roast pork and apple sandwich was just«okay». It didn’t look like the photo in the window. For the steep price, it was mostly bread with a hard lump of stuffing, tiny scrape of apple sauce and even the pork was quite dry. I was expecting something better. Staff were friendly and all, just a little disappointing.
