The Minster Gardens

To be serenaded by an emo and his guitar-​playing friends eating subways and crisps, this is the place to go. It is also the destination of elderly strollers having a little sit down after a hard half-an-hour’s shopping. In fact, the Minster Gardens plays host to all corners of York’s population, and it’s actually a heartening reminder that the beauty of a green park and a towering cathedral are universally felt, no matter how your ideas might differ on other aspects of life.
