The Barbican has undergone a big refurb in the last few years. I only used to hear of things like carol concerts and plays taking place there but now I know there are regular gigs there with some big names in music as well as famous comedians. Really nice big venue in York city centre in a great location for bars/​restaurants for before and after the show.
