So all in all a nice place to have a drink. Bit of a dungeon bourgeois atmosphere but again all that is gone once it’s gets flooded with people. Well … I should complain I mean we all have a right to drink in this world :-p
The thing is you need to come on happy hour on this place you get fantastic deals on your drink like 2 for 1 cocktails. And the cocktails ate really good. Believe me I tried them … all!!!
In any way it is wroth the visit if you are in the hood

It was OK, the food tasted good but you didn’t get much of it. I had Lasagne with chips, and only got a small piece of Lasagne with just a few chips (not much considering how much I paid). However I thought the staff were very pleasant, and the pub is in an unusual place (in cellars underground), so it’s just really the amount of food I got that I didn’t think was right.

This is a lovely pub, nice setting, large paved beer garden where we sat in the sun, and cheap cheerful food.
My craving for mac and cheese was completely satisfied, so I was happy.
The beer garden was quite untidy with ciggie ends, and the bar staff let more than one manner-free customer barge past the polite queue that had formed for food, and downstairs inside didn’t smell too pleasant– but overall staff were polite.
Cheap, reasonable food and drink, nice interior, just choose where you sit carefully, and have the willpower not to trip over boisterous bar shovers!

This place has come up over the years. It’s a very unique and interesting place to have a drink or eat some food. I’m pretty sure it used to be sewers a very long time ago — but I’m not sure if I’m making that up. Check it out and see.
It is air conditioned, there are no windows. So sometimes can feel a bit chilly.

American? this place has been her for a long time used to be the mayor’s personal wine cellar I believe. One of the first places I head for when I’m in York. Good beer in a nice cosy setting.

This is where I landed soon after arriving in York… the cavernlike interior appealed to me, for sure. Otherwise it’s a bit of a blur thanks to jetlag, but I think their cheese sandwich was nice!
Also, British men singing in falsetto? Yes, check.

A pretty unique bar, situated in some old wine cellars beneath the music shop– it might sound a bit claustrophobic but it really isn’t, even on the lower level it feels pretty light and spacious. The food is very decent and the service nice and friendly, although the prices have been going up. It gets crowded at pretty much the times you’d expect it to get crowded, but never too unpleasantly so (that I’ve seen).
Sadly it can’t really fight the tide of the commercial city centre that surrounds it, so over time it’s lost a bit of its character, but it’s definitely still worth a visit if only for the Cellar novelty.

This is A really lovely place that is very decieving! it is bigger than it looks! The food here is delish. The portions are a nice size. The food platters to share are my fave thing! The drinks are great. they serve a few different Ales at one time along with the standard beers also a selection of Wines too. The atmosphere in here too is lovely. Realy nice staff. Recommended!

I really like this pub! The atmosphere’s good and prices are very reasonable. The staff are friendly too. There’s a mix of students and older people who go here, which is nice. There’s loads of space and you can push together lots of tables, if someone hasn’t done this already, to accommodate a large group.
They also do food, although I’ve not eaten here so I can’t pass comment on how good it is. There do seem to be a fair number of people who order food though, so it must be at least ok.

Good fish and chips and surly staff, you’ll find tourists and locals alike in here.
The dungeon-like underground atmosphere is cool and strangely comforting. A great place for a pub lunch or quick drink with friends.

A wee bit of a tourist trap, it seems, but then again, I was a tourist. Fantastic food… gourmet fish and chips were spot on, the roast potato with local goat’s cheese was unbelievable… the best spud I have ever eaten. Great beer and really good specials when you buy two meals. Brilliant.

I really like to visit Lendal Cellars when i am in York wether it is during the day or at night it is a place that serves up a nice reputation and there is always a friendly welcome from the bar staff.
If you fancy a bite to eat then just pop in and order some food and a drink to go with it and i assure you that you will not be dissapointed i usually like to order a burger and a diet coke and it always hits the spot.
For a night out its a nice place to go and socialise and just chill out and chat with friends and there is both ample space both upstairs and downstairs so that is always an advantage. This is one place i would on a night out most times.

This is a nice pub with reasonably cheap prices for York. The food’s also quite nice, I enjoyed my burger. The atmosphere on a night is good, very much a student place to go. I’d recommend this as a good english pub to visit.
