Hilton York Hotel

Extremely convenient. The hotel is right next to Clifford’s tower and few blocks from main center. The rooms were not as nice as I’d expected from Hilton. however, the staffs were very helpful with great customer service attitude.

My grandparents stayed here over Christmas and it was such a disappointment. The shower in their room was broken, they paid extra before hand for a ‘deluxe’ room and then were informed when they got there that all rooms are the same, and the whole experience wasn’t worth the money they paid.
Despite paying to have dinner included in their stay none of the side veg was included with their meals and they had to pay extra for that. This theme continued throughout their stay and it seemed they were expected to pay extra for nearly everything despite having already paid about £400 for a couple of nights there. The only positive was the staff who were helpful. Not only did they have to pay extra for side vegetables, but they said the food wasn’t even nice at all.
I complained on their behalf and was fobbed off for several weeks before finally managing to get them a refund. They were grateful to get it but it took a long time to get! Over all, the room, food, and hotel, were all far below the standard they were expecting from The Hilton.

My girlfriend and I stayed over Easter and found the staff sensitive and attentive, the chefs of a brilliantly high standard and the room clean and appealing. Breakfast every morning was a buffet offering healthy, continental and cooked. Service was slick and hospitable and we shall definately return!

I would not even give it one star exept that the restaurant staff was really nice and helpful.
They weren’t readu for us and said they would take care of our bags, when we got back 6 hours later the bags were still in the front lobby with our laptops sitting there for anyone.
The bed is as comfortable as the floor and they wanted 15pounds to acess the internet. What a ripoff!!!
Too many nice places in York to bother here.

Very disappointed, especially if this hotel really is «5-​star».
Rooms are smart and clean, with luxury-​end fittings BUT… pressure in the shower was poor and no hot water on Tuesday morning! Air-​conditioning was also very suspect/​non-​existent.
Parking and wired-​broadband are extortionate (both £15/​day) and the restaurant menu is limited (and doesn’t change) so if you’re eating in, it is a challenge. Also I can’t believe that in this modern age, children’s menu items do NOT come with any veg/​baked beans; crazy. Also, as per all Hilton’s, the bar — and especially wine — prices are criminal.
Staff however, are all fabulous, cheerful and very helpful; they are 5-​star, but the hotel isn’t…
