Harkers

Great place. So many drinks to choose from. Not a bad price considering. One of the ones we go to on nights out.

I’ve been to Harker’s quite a lot now and it really hasn’t disappointed me yet. One of the good things about it is its size. There isn’t just a massive main area with comfortable chairs at the windows and taller tables to sit or stand at, but also two little rooms you can even get reservations for and that are just incredibly nice to sit in and be among yourselves.
The food and beer options are great but it is also a bit generic and without character. Don’t get me wrong. The interior is nice and everything fits together perfectly but it doesn’t make you fall in love with it. Maybe because it is just too smooth and without any rough edges.

This is a fantastic pub located in the heart of York. On a fantastic summer’s day it is the perfect place to just relax and have a drink.
During my visit, we went for some food as it was a recommended place.
The exterior of the building is a fantastic example of York’s historic buildings, but when you walk inside, it is a modern furnished pub, with a central area for mainly drinkers and some smaller side rooms for people who want a more quiet area to enjoy their food.
I wasn’t feeling that hungry, but this may have been because it was hot, but I ordered something anyways. We went into the side room, when you walk in, and got seated down. There is a nice variety of food available, but when my eyes glanced past the wild boar burger (with chorizo sausage) I had to have it. Prior experience influenced my decision, as the first time I had one it was one of the best burgers I have ever had.
So after a short wait, my burger was present on a rectangular plate, with some coleslaw and a bowl of chips with the skin on.
I must say it was another fantastic burger, and was savoring every bite: D, although it was quite messy, I didn’t mind at all.
I will definitely recommend this place, and if you haven’t tried a wild boar burger before, go try it, you won’t be disappointed! I will definitely come back to this place as it’s a very nice place to sit down and eat or have a drink.

This pub has to be my favorite Yorkshire pub. Housed in a grand old building in the center of the older part of the city, Harker’s is a beautiful and warm on the inside as it is on the outside. This bar and restaurant is open and inviting and has a comfortable and cozy interior. I was in a larger group and we were able to find a couple of comfy leather couches to kip on while having some pints. This was the only bar we went to that night that actually had very good service. I was served promptly by the bar tender and didn’t have to jump up and down to get his attention. The drinks here aren’t over pricey either. We got Strongbows and a few Jaeger shots for under 10 pounds. Harker’s is perfect place to have drinks with either a large or small group. You will be comfortable and well fed and watered to be sure.

Harkers is located on St Helen’s Square and has great architecture on the outside; it’s nice enough inside.
Good wine selection and prices are reasonable for York city centre. Harkers gets quite packed at weekends and busy periods, but has a nice atmosphere. It is a good place to start your night out or pop in earlier in the evening for a quick one before going home.
Serves food; it’s a generic pub menu, and pretty much as expected, nothing special, but good food nonetheless.
