For families this is a great and fairly inexpensive way to spend an afternoon. One of the best things about the place are the toys and activity sheets for the kids to have a go at. There are also quite a few things the kids can get their hands on, which is really refreshing. There are loads of places for a picnic if the weather is unusually nice. The miniature steam train runs on what they call event days, so it’s well worth checking their website for details of these as it would be a shame to turn up and not be ble to have a go. It really is mini, so you may well have to hold on tight to younger children. There are even chances to go on special bus rides which look fun, although we didn’t go on one. The other good thing is the ‘Kids Kabin’ activity area outside the café which means you might be able to grab 5 minutes peace while the kids play with a wooden railway, colouring and activity sheets and some building bricks. I quite liked looking at the old buses, while the kids preferred doing things, obviously, but luckily both are catered for here.

I have been to the Transport Museum twice and if you think this is far of being an interesting day out, you’re completely wrong! For me, it was particularly interesting for being an opportunity of understand the culture of double-Decker buses and how these mean of transport became so popular in this country. I also had the opportunity of see some buses that were used in regular lines in Walsall with fully explanation about the lines. The staff is very friendly and if the place is not packed you can have a really good chat with them. I quite enjoyed as well to check the bits at the shop, especially the post cards and books about transports. You can take photos inside the vehicles and this is a quite nice day out for kids. Okay, for the boys because they will probably feel like trying real big toys over there. It’s perfect for families and people interested in being educated about the transport history of this country and with admission of only £ 3 for adult and £ 1.50 for children, you can even think about giving some more tips to keep this wonderful work done there.

We’ve all taken a bus ride in our time but how about a trip down memory lane with this excellent museum. With buses from all eras you’ll probably spot one that you used to catch often. There are all sorts of buses here which have been beautifully restored and maintain by the members. Many of the vehicles are still running, I have to admit I’m a bit of a geek when it comes to large vehicles, not quite a train spotter, but close! I defy anyone not to be impressed by the finest and largest collection of beautifully preserved buses this country has. If you are into trains as well then there’s also a miniature steam railway too. This is a fabulous day out for the whole family, take grandma and pops, they’ll love it. Admission is £3.00 for adults £1.50 for children.

A great place to visit at any time, but for maximum enjoyment, go on an operating day. The day will be over before you know it! There’s really nowhere else like it!
