Mount Tavern

I was passing through Penn and stopped at Mount Tavern to drink some beer. I found it to be very clean and a pleasant atmosphere. I was the only person in there, other than the staff but I found them to be very nice and friendly. I am new to the UK and just checking out all the various pubs and this one seemed very nice.

Met a pal in here the other evening as he now uses this place a lot for the food. I was very impressed with the indian food try the mixed grill for £12.00 as it will feed ¾ people! But NO REAL ALE, so only 3 stars. have to drink cider or lager carling is £2.25 pp. Smoothpour is £2.10 pp. Update 27÷11÷09 went again, the pub ran out of lager! Sill no real ale so had smoothpour yuk! Had the mixed grill (lamb chops, chicken tikka + tandoori, chicken wings, fish pakora etc) but this took OVER AN HOUR to arrive. Then, within an hour of getting home I became best friends with my loo! Not sure whether to return yet. UPDATE April 2011 new ownership, caribbean food on offer. Not been in yet so is worth trying again. UPDATE June 2012 new ownership again! Mixed menu, not been in to try yet.

Always used to have a few drinks here before heading off into town. Great pub and you can always find somewhere to sit. Never really tried the food though.

Good local pub, lots of regulars and a friendly place. Resonable drink prices. Good seating and smoking area out the back and front. Has an indian kitchen outside — great food.
