Crown Harvester

Staff work very hard, décor is beautiful. Food is really yummy– especially the Steak Night steaks– Cote du Beouf and T-​Bones. Really excellent.
Yes it gets busy. Yes its quite loud and bustly– but its the best place for miles.

Interesting seeing some reviews and I was rather surprised by some of the negativity. I have been on 5 occasions at weekends for lunch and early an evening meal and its been great every time. We took my mother in law for her 60^th with 15 of us and the service was friendly, prompt and accurate. The food is a bit more expensive but never less than very good. To be honest, most run of the mill pubs charge similar prices these days so I don’t see much of a premium here. I’ve been to my fair share of high end restaurants so it wouldn’t be fair to compare, and you’ll inevitably be disappointed (although I’ve been to a fair share of rubbish ones of those) if you do but unlike many ‘trendy’ pubs this one does have substance as well as style. I highly recommend the Crown and there aren’t many as good in the area.

We went here for lunch on a Sunday, but we were disappointed for a number of reasons:
a) On arrival, the protocol for being seated wasn’t obvious. It seems there isn’t one. We waited around for several minutes until we were seen to.
b) They had no record of our booking. Luckily they had a free table.
c) We were seated, but although it was obvious we had a baby with us I still had to ask for a high chair.
d) The waitress who seated us didn’t offer to take drinks orders.
e) Fifteen minutes later she came back to take our orders. I had to prompt her to ask us whether we would like some drinks.
f) Another twenty minutes passed. I could see our drinks order waiting on the bar. It had been there for ten minutes. I had to ask another waitress to go and fetch it.
g) We finally got our food an hour after arriving. My burger was quite average, unlike the price (£12). It was also well done, despite me asking for medium. The chips (or «frites», according to the menu) were standard average pub chips.
h) We were given two dessert menus. One was for the Sunday roast, the other for the standard menu. The pudding I wanted was on both; on the Sunday roast menu it was £3 and on the other menu was £5.45. I was charged £5.45. The difference was taken away again when I pointed out that you can’t charge almost double simply because an item is printed on a different piece of paper.
I get the feeling that somebody has put a lot of money into this place, but they’ve ignored the basics, i.e. good, honest food and well trained staff. The chaos between the kitchen and front of house was obvious. All style and little substance, as another reviewer said.
During our time there we noticed two other people making complaints. We didn’t leave a tip and we won’t be going back.

It probably is the best looking pub in Wolverhampton. You go in there and you are amazed at the décor. They have an amazing selection of drinks which you will spend load sampling them all.
As some people said above, this place is incredibly pretentious. Me and my partner had a meal there and it was very average. They try and con you with the posh sounding menu, and the prices are nearly double what you would usually pay for average pub grub. It is honestly very average.
don’t go here on a Friday or Saturday as you wont get to the bar. It really is mostly full of rich smug wannabes drinking in a place that they think is something fantastic when in fact its not that good.
Best time to go is a weekday as i think you could really enjoy the chilled atmosphere as it is not too loaded with people.
But don’t bother with the food or and don’t bother going the weekend.
All style no substance

A very lively pub restaurant on the edge of Wolverhampton, we visited it for the first time this evening. The first things that struck us were the two enormous bouncers and the dense crowd milling around the bar. Having found our table, the service was swift and efficient and drinks were served and orders sought.
Rustic bread, balsamic vinegar and oil with roast garlic and olives for starters all round was fine. The mains included burger (average) and chips (undercooked), and lambs liver and mash (like a scene out of «Silent Witness» said one of my companions).
The low ceiling ensured that the place seemed lively, but also made it very noisy. The bill for four, including three bottles of wine, a spritzer and two Peronis — starters and mains only — totalled £132. I won’t be rushing back — I may be too old!!!

Well — what a lovely place! The old «Harvester» is no more and the pub has been fully refurbished and re-​designed internally by the new owners. It re-​opened on the 10÷12÷09.
More of a modern country Inn style now with a menu to match. Sharing plates, salads, pasta, spit roast chicken plus steaks too. Prices from £1.95 for side dishes to £19.95 for a fillet steak (bit pricey for me!).
Will certainly pop in again.

The Harvester is a friendly, family restaurant on the Wergs Road in Tettenhall. It is a chain restaurant, so can feel a little characterless at times, however, I have always enjoyed my visits. The kitchen area is on show, so you are able to see your food being prepared. One feature of the Harvester which I particularly like is that with every main course a visit to the salad bar is included. Usually busy, but generally there is space for passing trade. Colouring in books, etc, are available for smaller children. Menu is extensive and I find the food on offer more exciting than in some pub/​restaurants — with things like rack of lamb on the menu.
