Maybe it’s just a case of wanting what I have not got, or even not knowing if it’s available, but I wish this kind of place existed in downtown Chicago. With a broad selection of baguette sandwiches(including, for this ugly American, some unique but probably normal-to-locals flavors like chicken tikka and prawn cocktail), hot sausage rolls, and a good pastie selection, plus what I feel like are reasonable prices(90p for a sausage roll? Something like £2 for a nice sized baguette? £1.35 for a cheese and onion pastie?), I’d eat lunch here frequently. Easy grab and go. This particular iteration of the Greggs chain was usually busy, but never a mob scene, and the staff were patient with my old fashioned swipe credit card. Supposedly they have good doughnuts and breakfast items, but I only managed to come for lunch. All the same, nice thing to have just down the street. Very handy and satisfying.
