It really goes against my opinion of British food lol. we ordered the beef burger, fish pie, meat pie, mulligatawny soup, all of them are delicious. Great chef. Pity that I’ve got a small stomach.

After looking and looking in the Lake District, Wild & Co. is the only place we’ve been able to find with great, high-quality and well-prepared food that is just barely still affordable for a non-anniversary meal out. Lots of local /regional ingredients and new takes on English staples. But probably the best dish we’ve experienced there is the burger — a pretty delicious concoction unlike any other burger I’ve had. Also a great thing to do is to go for dessert later in the evening — their raspberry and rose mess was fantastic, and huge, so we shared between two and were perfectly happy.

This place is the only thing I remember in Windermere… Ha, no– it’s breathtaking and a wonderful place! We arrived at our AirBnb later in the evening and were recommended this restaurant. We were tired from traveling and the comfort of the leek soup and perfect scotched egg was amazing! The fish pie, as you can see in my photo, was huge– flaky potato pie crust and tons of fish baked to perfection. The sticky toffee pudding with clotted cream? We fought with our forks until the last bite… I wish didn’t have a budget so we didn’t have to share the meal! This was by far the BEST meal we had on the trip. We still talk about it two months later. I would definitely make it a point to eat at Wild & Co.

My wife and I were on vacation in Windermere and were tired of eating in pubs Wild & Co looked more upscale so we decided to give it a try. We were glad we did. As the name implies there are a lot of game dishes on the menu which were tempting. However I wanted a steak and my wife wanted something a little lighter so I had the Cumbrian rib eye and she had pasta crab starter as a main. Both were excellent. My steak was done perfectly rare as I had ordered as was served with a marrow bone, chips(French fries to me), a tomato and mushroom. I had a glass of a nice Chilean merlot. We split the sticky toffee pudding with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for desert. It was very good. Service was friendly and efficient. We liked the ambience and would definitely return.

We went for some Lunch in Wild & Co when visiting Windermere. So glad we did this place is amazing, I literally can’t fault it! The staff were super friendly and served us drinks straight away and took our orders promptly after. The place is decorated in a shabby chic meets ikea kind of way and it works really well. The food was delicious and the portions were massive, I had a pulled pork sandwich on fresh home cooked bread with tripple cooked chips and it was esquisite! They even boxed up what I couldn’t eat, which I was pleased about, never say no to a doggy bag #superscrimper. I don’t normally give a shout out to the toilets in a review, but i’m going to make a special exception for Wild & Co. The toilets were great! Clean spacious, fresh cotton hand towels, organic local soaps and hand creams. You could even buy the creams you’d just tried and they are all locally sourced! The whole experience was very pleasant and I look forward to returning next time i’m in windermere! Definately worth a visit, you won’t regret it!

I meant to write this review in early June, but life got in the way and I’m only getting to it now. So, some of the details may be fuzzy, but the overall impression and recommendation stand. If you ever find yourself in the heart of the Lake District — Lake Winderemere, to be exact, with a jones for some really first-class food, this is the place for you. Just up the road from the little harbor with the tourist boats and the tame ducks and the hoards of Chinese tourists in a row(like the ducks), this modest restaurant serves up a varied menu made from local ingredients. The steak was from local bovines, grass-fed, and very flavorful, but different if you’re used to US corn-fed beef. Do try it, if you’re a carnivore. Also, the chips(fries, to us Yanks) were the absolute best I have ever eaten! It’s worth going out of your way, and even driving on the wrong side of the road, to get your teeth into them! The service was prompt and friendly and we will go back if we ever find ourselves in Windermere again. P. S., I wondered why the place was called«Wild & Co,“as there was nothing wild on the menu except maybe fish. No boar, no peacock, no caribou. Wo why Wild? It just occurred to me that this is may be a play on words. If I’m right, it could have been called«Wilde & Co.» after the noted English playwright, Oscar Wilde, who wrote a delightful comic play called«Lady Windermere’s Fan.» Thus, the connection.

This beautiful quaint little restaurant is sat on a corner in Windermere and is the best way to spend an afternoon after walking or rowing or being out on the lakes. The sign on the door before you go in says ‘Muddy Paws and Muddy Boots Welcome!’ and although I thought the staff were friendly, kind and attentive, I’m not so sure i’d have felt comfortable being muddy in there as it was a delightfully attractive and well decorated, with everything being spotlessly clean. The pristine bar was stocked with every alcohol and liqueur you could want of an evening, cocktails included. And the food. Oh the food. Absolutely delicious, mouthwatering and worth a trip all the way up to the Lake District for alone. I had the 12oz Traditional breed dry aged sirloin on the bone, roast bone marrow, vine tomatoes, triple cooked chips and flat mushroom. I don’t even like mushrooms and It was so tasty I ate the lot. Yes it was expensive, but it was totally worth every penny. And the staff were so polite and helpful. I’d recommend booking though, I was lucky to turn up just as they opened and was seated straight away but a few people came in after who had to be turned away due to them being fully booked.
