One of the best Curry of Winchester. I recommend the chicken kurma, it was delicious. I can’t wait to go back!

Only in Winchester can you find an Indian restaurant like this. Walk through the unassuming shop frontage on City Road and the restaurant opens out unexpectedly into a neon lit, modern and chic dining area. No flock wallpaper or carpet for this joint The girlfriend kindly treated me to dinner here last night. The staff were friendly throughout our visit and we witnessed 2 birthday desserts being delivered to tables together with razzamatazz and music I had my usual mango lassi, which came in a generous portion but I could have done with a little more mango flavour We shared an onion bhaji starter, which came with 2 bhajis on the plate on a tamarind sauce. It was a little odd because we later received a side portion, which contained 3 bhajis We chose a house special, Goan lamb shank, which was fall off the bone soft but the sauce could have done with a little more zing We paired that with classic chicken tikka masala. Well, classic for Britain anyway — apparently, you won’t be able to find this dish in India. Nice but a touch sweet The kulcha naan(stuffed with potato and vegetables) was nice A good solid choice though I suspect some of the spicing of the food may have been adjusted for the local shire palate

Plenty of space around the tables, friendly, efficient staff, excellent food. Not cheap at £74 for three including wine, but definitely worth it. Quality, interesting food. Will definitely return.

This is a really great restaurant for for a curry. That makes sense as it is an Indian restaurant ;) We went there for my birthday last night and it was awesome. I tried everyone’s curry on my table but that was OK because I knew them all, and every single one was tasterific. The staff are really friendly and they provide a great service, but you pay a price e.g. the poppadoms at the beginning of the meal we were offered we had assumed were complimentary but they turned out to cost about £30 which was quite expensive and unexpected. Generally speaking though the food is excellent and it is really worth a slightly up market price because it is an upmarket Indian. I would recommend anyone going there for a great curry and night out, they cater for parties of ~20 people really well and probably even larger as they said we could hire the entire place if required :) I was slightly drunk by the time we got there and couldn’t really read the menu so I told the waiter to ask the chef to make me something awesome that was hotter than a tikka masala but cooler than a madras. I have no idea what it was but it was REALLY good. Also their cheese naan is to die for. In summary, great food, great restaurant, great service, no hidden enforced service charge(finally a restaurant that gets it), but on the pricey side(otherwise I’d go every month).

Rimhjim. Pronounced«Rim Jim» Sounded so funny I had to go. Pretty damn good indian food at this place — this place was really busy too. It’s a ‘contemporary’ indian restaurant. The setting is really trendy — a place you would see in Santana Row back in the bay. The place was so booked that they had to seat me in front. The place is pretty huge about 4,000 square feet and they have a bar on the side where I saw a lot of suits drinking and talking frantically. I ordered Tiger prawns & Rimhjim Chicken Curry with Garlic nan bread. Wasn’t too spicy but I found myself sweating at the end of it. The service was good but the part that I found distasteful was that they brought this portable card swiping machine to me to see if I wanted to leave a tip. This seems to be the norm in the UK.

Attractive modern Indian restaurant. This is almost fusion cooking — Indian recipes cooked in a very fresh way. Excellent quality food in an environment somehow more reminiscent of a trendy wine bar. Purple lighting and waiting staff in red shirts. Quiet it isn’t. I keep going back, though! On the pricey side for an Indian.
