Bridge Patisserie

A lovely little place in Winchester, a range of lunches and they were able to accomodate for a party of 10 over the lunch period. The food came out in a reasonable time.
They have a very tempting range of cakes and chocolates so it’s ideal for an afternoon tea /​coffee.
The staff are very friendly and helpful but can get a little forgetful in the busy period, but they’re only human.
You can park nearby in Chesil Street which is £1.20 for an hour

Went here recently and while the service was good the food was not, I didn’t want a panini as you can get those anywhere!
First, the tables are uncomfortable, they have low backs more suitable for a home than a café, and the table is round which makes it awkward to sit and eat, plus it gets very cramped.
The food, I had the Chicken Caesar Salad and my partner had the goats cheese salad. the Chicken Ceasar salad was chicken in a really rich, parmesan sauce, with great big bits of bacon chucked on top with what was supposed to be croutons which turned out to be dried chunks of hard bread — the kind you get ready prepared from a supermarket! Plus some iceberg lettuce underneath. Maybe they should look up the recipe for Ceasar Salad! The whole thing was too sicky, rich and very very salty, my partners goats cheese salad had a whole round of goats cheese with the same type of salad leaves, I know people complain about stingy portions but this was far too much and we both had to leave half of the meal and we both felt a bit sickly! The cappuccino was not what I would call a cappuccino, more like the instant ones you buy from Nestle — more like milky coffee — and it was warm not hot No room for pudding because we were so full — but not in a good way. The loo could use some attention as well.
The place was mainly filled with mostly OAPs (which we aren’t) so maybe they weren’t too fussy with what they had, but I won’t be going back again, there are better cafes in Winchester, glad to get out into the fresh air for a walk back into town centre!

A few years ago, I began working at the Bridge Patisserie before I became a loving customer. Not only is it a fantastic place for a Fairtrade coffee, a tasty sandwich and a delicious fruit-​covered frangipan, but it is a lively hub of art, music and culture.
A French patisserie located not five minutes from the bustling Winchester high street, this little cake and sweet shop is modest and even a little bit nostalgic of that excitement as a child over delicious treats and sweets.
Although the shop itself is tiny and some products are a tad pricey, it is a great place to catch up with friends in a cosy, friendly atmosphere. The staff are very aware of decoration, atmosphere and art and they are all extremely hard-​working.
The shop is cash and cheque only, which to some may be inconvenient. However, I find it nice to get away from modern day technologies and be taken back to simpler times with a hot drink, a cake and a book. Enjoy!

Fantastic place. friendly service and excellent food. Great Paninis, brilliant salads when you are feeling that you shouldn’t. The cakes are good too: try the pear and chocolate tart.
I love the fact that the coffee is really good, fresh and hot. I love the fact that all the ingredients are locally sourced. I love the fact that its not a chain. I love the place.
It would be so sad if one customer who got poor service changed the way people think about this place.

From the outside this seems a lovely little patisserie, unfortunately the thing that lets it down is the service. I am unable to comment on the food, as I never got to taste any. My husband received his lunch (which actually was not his but for the gentlemen at another table who happened to have ordered the same). I waited in anticipation for my panini, which did not come, I told my husband to start eating his panini, as it was getting cold, so at least one of us could have lunch. When we had both finished our coffe and tea, my husband scoffed the last of his lunch, we were ready to after being there for about 30 mins. Then the long forgotten panini arrived at my table, now you are saying why did I not just ask where it was, well it was little difficult to try and tie down a waitress/​waiter to ask them where it was. At the previously mentioned table where the other gentlemen was still waiting for his panini (they ordered before us) he did get his pannini but I couldn’t comment if he enjoyed it as we were leaveing by then, although I do feel the lady he was with did not enjoy her salad as she had to send it back twice. At no time did anyone come to us and explain the mix up or even apologise, when we paid for the food we did receive we were told everyone makes mistakes, and that they were have a slow Monday??? So to end the food and pastries may be fantastic but the service terrible, which leaves me with a bitter taste (or not in my case) when we left this establisment, never to darken their door again !!!

Hey! a few more tables is actually a full blown little café — with really friendly, if sometimes eccentric, service. There are complicated and quite delicious salads and sandwich-​type meals plus pretty good coffee and amazing tea. It’s real tea leaves too — some very exotic — worth going for just to try a different flavour tea each time. You can have Early Grey or Japanese Sench (and Bancha) or Jasmine Needles. Mind you those cakes and desserts are truly wonderful. Clearly the place for a High Tea Ceremony. And they stay open till 7 most days because they’re busy anyhow baking the next day’s patisserie and bread.

This wonderful café makes tasty sandwiches (bacon and brie, for example), savoury quiches, and lots and lots of desserts. Fruit flans, cakes, chocolates, and many other concoctions both chocolate-​y and pastry. It’s a friendly neighbourhood spot with a couple of stools with high tables and a few more tables in an attached room. It’s a great spot to visit for a coffee and a sweet treat after wandering through Winchester Cathedral.
