The Lobster Shack

After a lovely walk along the beach we ended up outside here and stopped for lunch. We decided to eat inside because it was very hot and sunny outside, but we got a table right by the window so could still see the sea. My boyfriend ordered half a lobster with chips that also comes with a small salad and I went for a child’s portion of battered cod and chips — we added two soft drinks and it came too £18 which was great value. There is an open kitchen so you can see your fish being prepared and everything looked clean and the fish was very fresh. It arrived in good time and both the lobster and cod were great. My piece of cod was huge and easily feed an adult (it fed me!). Why two stars then? Well, I would have loved to give it four stars but… they use frozen chips! I wouldn’t have minded if they put it on the menu that their chips are frozen then I could have made an educated choice to eat there or not (I wouldn’t have!). I was so disappointed — with all the other fish restaurants in this area I would not come back here because I want fresh chips and to be honest its something I expect. Such a let down for a place that could be really good.
