We were in Weston with my cousin, who’s a rather fussy eater, so when we mentioned Japanese she was a little dubious, but let’s say that after this, she can’t wait for her next encounter with Japanese food! We were in Japan last year, so thought that the restaurant did its best to be fairly representative of all manners of Japanese food, with a sushi bar, teppanyaki counter and regular tables. The restaurant was packed on Saturday night and we were lucky to get a seat at all. It’s fair to say that we’d been eating quite well all day — a big hotel breakfast followed by fish and chips at lunchtime didn’t leave that much room which is a shame as the menu was heaving with some of our favourite dishes and it was very tempting to order far too much. At £3.95, the miso soup sounded quite expensive, but I’ve never seen such a big bowl! Tastes of everything were very reminiscent of the food we’d tasted in Japan, although my katsu curry was rather runny — and portions were much bigger than you’d get over there!

I highly recommend this restaurant, the service is always first class, the food is consistently great. I have eaten here a number of times and have never had a bad experience. I love this place and look forward to the next opportunity to dine there!

If it wasn’t for all the drugs and stabby issues the town has, Weston Super Mare has the potential to be a great little seaside location. And restaurants like this are certainly helping it pull its socks up. The restaurant offers teppanyki, sushi and various Japanese dishes to pick from, along with a large wine and drinks menu. The surroundings are beautiful and comfortable, and it really does feel like you’re in a fashionable Brighton restaurant, rather than, well… Weston Super Mare. The serving staff were fast, knowledgable and helpful(even when we pointed out our bill was wrong). The food itself was pretty nice, not the very best but by no means the worst. My only downer was the prices, which rounded up to around £30 per head for a two course meal with drinks. Not bad, but best saved for a treat. The restaurant was packed full with bookings, which suggests there’s definitely a market for more upmarket restaurants in the area.

I was recommended Yo-Ji by a friend so went along with my wife. I was pleasantly surprised by the food, which was good if not great. The atmosphere was busy and a bit hectic. The décor was nice, but it wasn’t roomy and tables were a bit too close together. The food wasn’t the best japanese food I have had by a long way, and it was very expensive, especially considering it isn’t the best japanese food, and the cramped noisy restaurant. I also got takeaway from here, just the once, and wouldn’t do it again, as they messed up the order and it was still very expensive as takeaway. I would recommend trying elsewhere, and I certainly won’t be going back again.

Good quality food. Friendly and helpful staff. Good choices of wine, however the red wine is stored to warm, which alters the drinking quality slightly. Luckily no circus acts from the teppanyaki chefs. Altough classed as japanese I would class this as far east but then again not Chinese. Try the charcoal-grilled beef. The quality of the meat is excuisite! Don’t have on estarter, try many, inlcuding the edamami and duck springrolls. The Champagne is friendly priced!
